Getting some difficulty going into second and fourth gear. All bushings checked except the rear knuckle pocket one. Trans was low on oil 8-12 oz. Are my sinks toast ?

Ouch. Hopefully not the Creamsicle and won’t prevent you from bringing it to the NEG. beer.gif

Will be there one way or another. Got two spare transmissions but not sure of their condition. One given to me and one from a parts car. Might attempt to swap out without removing the engine unless anyone has a better idea.

Hate to state the obvious, but have you checked the adjustment at the shifter?

I have had it move, and it would pop out of gear.

Paint some white-out on it. And mark it with a sharpie.
That makes it easier to see how much you move it AND if it moves again in the future.

No need to remove the engine if just swapping out the transmission.

Good luck!

I just went through a hard time getting into 2nd. Turns out it was the cone screw had come loose. Tightened it and 2nd is not an issue now.

2nd and 4th are in the same plane. Does the free play seem the same in 2nd and 3rd? It doesn't need to be running.

Hi Tony! have you tried shifting the gear at the rear by the transmission?

Yep it was a loose cone screw. I installed two new ones and a new shifter bushing at the side shifter knuckle. Thanks I should have suspected the obvious first

Great to hear it was easy. So rare....
