I made an improved design that is better looking, doesn't need any assembly and no painting. It's shipped ready to use and features a "from the shelf" claw that makes the design much better than my previous one.
It's still 3D printed with high strength Polyamid (SLS) and the finish is satin black. This printing technique makes very fine detail and smooth surface possible.
The mount will lock in the ashtray support and doesnt need any screw.
You can install and remove it without any tool and it is locked in place tightly. I tested it for one year and it works very well.
You can put the excess power cable in the tray if needed (see picture)
Will fit phones from 2.36 to 3.3 inches, (60 to 84mm)
Price included worldwide shipping is 39 Euros - Order by PM

Congrats on your new cell phone holder design......it looks GREAT!

Got mine yesterday. Installation instructions:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable
2. Remove ash tray
3. Install phone mount
4. Reconnect negative battery cable.
Ok, 1 and 4 not necessary, but I wanted honor all those Chilton's manuals I had over the years.
What a great product! Holds the phone perfectly.

I finally got mine, but it arrived broken. I would suggest shipping them in a box versus a bag. The bubble wrap was all popped when it showed up. Our USPS is pretty brutal over here. I will try to super glue it.

A friend of mine spotted the phoneholder and asked if he could borrow it for a few days..
Much to my surprise he shameless copied it (no he is not Chinese ) and, to his opinion, perfected it ... rounded of the edges,
made the ball a bit stronger and used more material so he could use it as his secret locker (to put some coins in, toll card, fuel card etc)
How one design can lead to another
