OK folks, let's get to voting. Can we get this wrapped up in a week, please?

If you're planning to vote (meaning you're planning to attend), please do so by the end of Sunday, Oct 9. We'll call it at that point.

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=179 - Andy, could you color this up so it's nice and noticable?

Votes are in:
WCR2023 will be in Lake Tahoe, CA/NV, hosted by Rob @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=3380

Not WA. That's a 20 hour drive, so -1 for WA even though it looks like an interesting place.

Either CA choice is fine by me.

+1 for Friday Harbor; always wanted to go there

Not to be too territorial but one of the California choices is actually in Nevada… smile.gif

South Lake Tahoe is in California!! poke.gif bootyshake.gif
Note more people might attend if it’s centrally located in Tahoe versus something close to Canada!

Well, if you look at who gets the event master duty if Lake Tahoe is the choice, it’s me blink.gif This means it will be on the Nevada side of Tahoe for base of operations.

We would of course be on both sides of the state line for drive purposes, but regardless of where SLT is, pretty much all the hotels are on the Nevada side because we have casinos! Cali has some motels, but nada for casinos. The super rich have houses in Incline Village, probably for tax purposes. (No state taxes!) As @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=3348 has mentioned, cones! We got monster fuching pine cones!

Last WCR I held at LT Aaron Hagar offered to supply beer. He was managing Cabo Wabo back then. I believe he has his own band and tours now though. We had the famous Al Weidman at the event. We had Jim Dupree hanging his head the entire weekend all dogfaced and sad. I tried to lose the muffler on my car on one of the most epic drives EVER! These hotties lit up the parking lot with their smiles. And as usual Jim Hoyland was present and accounted for. Because with or without his 914, he loves to travel and see the cars!

Well, there are a reasonable amount of responses, Lets put out the call to get a vote in and leave open for another week or so, I'm interested in the dates ( and location) also.

I voted for Petaluma because I have been to 2 WCRs in Tahoe and none in Petaluma.

I have a car to driving.gif now and will be going where ever WCR2023 ends up.
In fact Rob volunteered me to help with WCR at Tahoe if/when it wins, which I am happy to do.

Voted for Tahoe as leaving your home town- Petaluma- is good for the soul! That said, Chris could put on a hell of a WCR!

Oh… any combustion issues at Tahoe elevation and higher for carbed cars?

Chris is still going to be part of Tahoe unless a burst of votes for Petaluma happen. I need him too! evilgrin.gif

Lake Tahoe is up at 6200 feet so yes, carbed cars will need jet changes at a minimum to run properly at that elevation.

I vote Tahoe. The drive to Tahoe alone is an epic adventure from my place and let’s not forget the cool weather. That lil 2.0 and I will be smiling.

The other two Tahoe events we really didn’t have anyone with problems related to jetting. I myself ran carbs at that point in my cars evolution and didn’t have problems. Of course, I’m one foothills just east at 4500’ so not terribly dramatic difference between lake level and my own driveway.
The only car that didn’t run at all was Jamie Rust’s Creamsicle and I don’t think it ever came off the trailer. Not sure why, I was busy running the event.

I should have been more specific. Cars tuned from sea level up to ~2000' will need changes. The closer your tune elevation is in relation to Lake Tahoe, the less dramatic the change will be in mixture. Cars tuned within 3000' will probably be fine for the few days up there, but I know for sure a car tuned at lower elevation will have issues. I'm dialed in at about 300' with 40 IDFs, and the car looses a notable amount of power when I go up to 4000' or more. Even my wife's L-Jet gets unhappy above 4000', but will still chug along.

Last time I went I opened up my idle jets 1/4 turn and my car ran great. Threw me off because I would have thought to lean it out originally.
