914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Local (SF Bay Area) shop to balance my motor??

Posted by: Mueller Jul 25 2003, 10:12 AM

I figured it couldn't hurt, so I might as well do this before the motor is put back together...any recommendations?

What is the typical price to pay?

What all needs to be included?
crank, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, fan??
Am I missing anything?

There is some info on engine http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/services/dynamic-balancing.html on Jake Raby's web site. I'm gonna go for a "race" balance for my 2.0 when I rebuild it next spring/summer. I have the book http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1884089267/qid=1059152359/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/102-0480441-3385747?v=glance&s=books by Rick Voegelin and it includes a lot of detail on engine balancing.

Every bolt that holds all that on including the fan hub and three bolts.

Pistons/wrist pins/clips

Flywheel/PP/all hardware

Bearings(sometimes they have bearings)..its for the bob weights on the crank.
