Actually gave it a thought, but transport is an issue without a second support vehicle. Can’t fit too much in a little teener. Would have to leave wife at home. Hmmmm - wife or beer….. huh.gif

Awesome! Thanks for stepping in Travis. And thanks to Len for all his work getting this going and organizing the events over the last few years.

Now I just need to figure out how to tell the wife I'll be hanging out with you guys on our anniversary.

Man, that's only a few hours from me. I have a gig on the 23rd and another on the 25th, but I might be able to just pop in on the 24th to say hi.

This is great news !
Big Props to Big Len and his crew for being the spark plugs behind this in past years.
Lets hope he and Linda can attend.
If you are within striking distance put this on your calendar.
Meet and get to know the 914 people from our region.
Relax with like minded friends and see more 914s on the road than you've seen in
years.

So past Roxbury? Wow, that's pretty far west. Gentlemen, that is commitment -- moving across country just to give your car a rust-free and happy home.

Len, thanks for everything you and Linda did for us over the last few years. Hope to drive with you again some time.

Oh crap look at that. I just checked my calendar and ITS NOT THE SAME WEEKEND as Boy Scout Camp! Yes!!!

I will have the new 2.3 in the 914 by then too!

Looks like we are doing a different camp week this year, going up in early July instead.

Thanks for taking over from Big Len. I made it 2 years ago but last year stepped on the Pittsburgh Historic Grand Prix weekend and I couldn't make it. Hopefully this year won't be a conflict.

I'd like to donate a couple of sets of LED brake lights for the raffle so please contact me. Give me at least a month to get the boards assembled.

Update: We had to switch hotels/home base. We will be using the Chateau Resort in Tannersville (12 miles away) with a nice view of Camelback Mountain. There are plenty of amenities in the area. I'll give the green light to book as soon as we iron out conference room space.

For those of you who run carbs, will you have to adjust for the elevation in the Poconos? I only ask because I have a 1.7 w/ Djet, and I am building a 2056 w/ Carbs. Will it make more sense to just use the 1.7 so I don't have to make any adjustments for the elevation?

For those of you who run carbs, will you have to adjust for the elevation in the Poconos? I only ask because I have a 1.7 w/ Djet, and I am building a 2056 w/ Carbs. Will it make more sense to just use the 1.7 so I don't have to make any adjustments for the elevation?

Nope. You will be fine.

Zach

Thank you Zach!

You did sell me the case and I just got around to splitting it a few weeks ago which is what I am using for my 2056. I definitely appreciate the offer and may just take you up on it.

Unfortunatly, it doesn't look like I'll be able to join this year. Kids have a sports event in NC that same weekend. sad.gif The last two years were awesome, I'm bummed I'll miss this one. Have fun everyone, maybe I'll go to Okteenerfest this year.

sjhenry, It will be great to see you to. Your car looks great in the little picture. Is that with the new paint job? Today I finished up a couple of little jobs on my 914. One was to replace the bushings on my rear sway bar and the other was to replace the gaskets and clean up that cover which conceals the master cylinder for the brakes (and my fuel pump).

Looking forward to seeing you.

About 20 years ago when Rennlist had the East Coast Ramble Matt and I drove to Montreal for a get together. We are about and hour and forty five minutes south west of this one so you know how far we drove to get there? We had a blast. If you are coming down through Buffalo and going through the finger lakes give yourself an extra day there and check out the wineries. Some pretty decent wine for a decent price can be had.

All from the top.
The only part that's really difficult is the air ducts over the chain housings. And lifting both carbs at once. And lifting the fiberglass with the fan housing and alternator as a unit. With the harness hanging off eveyrwhere. And dropping it back in. And all
those fasteners. And some terrible blind reassembly.
I just did an oil change...can't waste that right ? sad.gif

I made some progress at lunch today, and talked with the tuner this evening. He is fairly certain he knows what the base issue was and how to get my laptop talking with the ECU again. So, for now, chances are decent that we are there. But there is a small chance we have to drop the engine to make a fix to the tooth wheel on the crank, and that will keep the car home this weekend.

I'm optimistic.

Thanks, Zach. Are you now combat ready or are you still fighting with ECU connection issues?

I gave the teener a quick bath and Fog-Xed the windows. Heading out early tomorrow to meet Tony before heading up to Camelback.

Quick check of the forecast and: good news, it's not going to be 95 degrees; bad news, it's going to be, er..., moist.

We have a good idea of the issue. I'm going to be working with the tuner this evening to try and resolve it and try and get some test drives in. Hypothesis is an issue with the crank wheel and hall sensor maybe falling out of alignment. If we can get it down, I'll put some blue tape on the leaky cockpit seals and drive the 914. If not Amy and I will be there in the 4runner to run sweep and assist folks that need it.

What kind of issues? Lots of help right here. Not so much me, but the gurus do.
I have a few used clutch parts for 4 cylinders. Change that in the parking lot also.
Many years ago Rennlist had a group and a Canadian changed a tranny CV seal in the parking lot.

Personally I'm having clutch/transmission issues with mine, but I still have some time left. Fingers crossed I get everything figured out in time!

Rob (BeatNavy) assisted me and the issue was it needed a shim behind that little ball. Still, it’s not at a point where I’m comfortable driving it considerable distance so it won’t be making the trip.

Drive it. Its a simple thing we can fix in a parking lot if we have to. We have done it before. And if I take my truck I'll have a tow bar with me and at worst I drag you home sunday.

It would be a great tech session! Every one could pull all their spare parts together to make it happen, this is how we do it!

I think we had 18 cars for the drive on Saturday. We got lucky with the weather- the rain held off for most of the day and the temps stayed nice a cool.

What an amazingly memorable event! So many awesome people. I definitely want to get back for a future NEG!

If you're up for a drive, you're all invited up to Mosport August 5-6 for the annual 914 meet during the PCA Upper Canada Region CanAm Challenge Club Race. The meet will include camping at the track Saturday night with a car corral and parade laps Sunday August 6th. This is a free event for all PCA members! Hope to see you there.

Posted by: 14carrot Jun 30 2023, 11:51 PM

Hey everyone, here is a draft of the short article featuring aspects of the NEG that should run in the July edition of the Provinz (Upper Canada Region PCA monthly magazine). The real theme of the article is to show how our hobby unites us, crossing states and even international borders. This is UCR's 26th edition of the CanAm Challenge club race. Frankly, it's really hard to put on financially, and COVID and the price of gas have contributed greatly to declining attendance from the USA. The article is meant to promote some love within and between PCA Zones.

The fact that Tony ventured up to the Great White North in 2019 to support our 914 50th event is something I'll never forget, and it was such a treat to join you guys for the NEG - also something I'll never forget.

914World is such a great community and the backbone of our 914 hobby, and I'm also cognizant of the fact that the PCA umbrella with the insurance makes these fun runs possible.

If you're ever able to join us for the 914 gathering, we hope to continue to make it an annual event during the CanAm club race weekend. Kudos to the PCA racers who make this possible. The camping is really great and the parade laps are free. This is a free 914 meet for any PCA member, so keep us in mind. This year's 914 event is August 5th and 6th, with the parade laps happening on the 6th during the racers' lunch hour.

In PA we can pump are own gas. on the other side of the river, I have to watch some one who knows nothing about our cars. Take my gas cap and jam under filler nozzle bending the cap. New Jersy commis wont let there own citixens pump gas.

Thanks for leading us out of New Jersey, Matt. I have to say, though, the guy at that gas station was pretty chill, even if he wasn’t that bright. He let me pump my own.
Maybe he recognized a fellow slacker. smile.gif

Posted by: mate914 Jul 1 2023, 08:17 AM

I did try to take gas pump from him twice. I did say stop but he refused. After $8 went into tank, I grabbed his arm to remove. He stopped then. Some parts of New Jersey are great, but not there.
