I have noticed that the air box connection is loose after getting to work on the car. Took the box off, changed the filter and vacuum hoses but noticed the connection isn’t tight after getting everything back together. I’m not married to the stock box if there is a better solution but just not sure if this connection is a wear item or I’m missing a way to tighten this connection.

You mean you can't tighten that flat head bolt enough for a tight fit?
You can use pliers to massage that bent metal piece to increase the clamping pressure, but it doesn't need to be particularly tight.

It’s loose on the top connection where there isn’t a way to tighten beyond just pushing it on, and yes I’m changing hoses.
This arrow better represents where it’s lose.

I would WTB a dif clamp. Your’s looks bent to the point that the bolt portions of the clamp make contact before it fully tightens.

Add a clamp, or new adhesive.
It should be tight to aid in not having a leak

I thought (on my '73 2.0) there was a rubber sleeve that went into the airbox and made a secure, seal when tightened.

I would just bend that metal piece back into shape. No need to go crazy with it.
Also, be careful as you replace the hoses. Many of the diagrams out there do not show the correct piping. Particularly for the decel valve.

I think you need to replace the rubber seal that seals the connection between the air filter box and the throttle body opening. The purpose is to provide an air tight seal at the joint so no dust gets sucked in through the throttle body/air box interface.

Tried to find part in PET - it is vague as can be on the air box throttle body for the various engines - no clear pictures or part number

Yes, but it has gotten flattened. They need to get it so that flange does its job again.

914Rubber sells them. It’s called a 2 liter flange gasket for the air cleaner.

Mine has a habit of popping out of the flange, I added a loop of lock wire to keep it in position.
