914World.com _ 914World Garage _ subaru alt. not charging on start up.

hey all,

so when i start my car i notice that the alt wont put out 13v for a bit after start up.at times i have drove for over 10 mins and it has dropped down to 8 volts before it starts putting out 13v. also feel that the battery is draining down if the car sits longer then a day. so i have to keep it on the charger. when i hooked up all the wires i ran one from battery post to one of the 2 wire terminals and second one it ran up to the charging light. the light has been changed over to a led bulb and also stays on all the time when the car is running. any help would be great.

Thanks

This is one bulb where an LED absolutely cannot be used. Just put the old bulb back in.

The bulb is what excites the alternator to charge. You need the draw from the stock bulb to do that. The LED does not draw enough. A burned out bulb will give you the same result.
