914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Having trouble with a spare parts car side window

Posted by: Type 47 Mar 20 2023, 03:03 PM

I have a right hand door window that another forum member has been waiting patiently for. I noticed some kind of fog like substance on it and I can't get it off.

It looks like it might have been some overspray from some previous bodywork, but I can't get it to come clean.

It's not a fog in the glass. it is on the outside, side and it also won't scape off with a razorblade.

Did you try lacquer thinner?

Is it possible someone media blasted it? I have always used clay (like claying a paint surface) and that works most of the time. If not, I use 0000 steel wool with generous amounts of window cleaner for lubrication. I also use a light touch.

nice, thanks for the advice. The razor reacts to it but doesn't move it. It doesn't look like it got inadvertently sand blasted and etched. I'll try to be gentle with the steel wool.
