'74, 2.0, 25K miles original
Spring is here and that means I will return to working on the car instead of looking at this beauty in my garage!
The clutch is a bit bucky - may refer to this as chattering. New clutch and plate, HOWEVER, I did not mill the Flywheel - clutch and plate were original so I replaced them. I swear the flywheel looked perfect so I did not have it........... - yea I know, I know.......however, if anyone has other suggestions?
As to the bucking from the throttle - I rebuilt:
Throttle system
throttle position sensor
the vacuum plenum - it is tight!
All hoses
timing - right on
plugs
valve clearance
all injectors
near everything with the exception of the wiring harness.........
the bucking is when it is in a low power between coast and starting to accelerate
Runs great everywhere else on the power band.
Bucking at low rpm is usually a distributor problem, I had the same issue, I went to the 123 dizzy problem solved.
If it's bucking on acceleration with the clutch fully engaged, it's probably the trigger points in the stock disty. Second the motion to install a 123 disty.
Clean and regrease advance plates in the distributor.
I would also remove and inspect the FI trigger points

Any luck or progress?
Oh gosh no!!!
I work at a snails pace........ All of the parts on the car are in great shape (except the rusted ones which I replaced........I will most likely take it off in the next few days and rebuild it.
Thank you,
I’m lazy and forgetful
Remove distributor cap
Take a well lighted picture of the orientation of the distributor.
Then pull it out, stick a rag in the hole gently
You can only put it in one way, you cannot seat it 180 degrees off.
But….getting the timing right is why I take a picture.
Btw, I’m lazy
Setting points perfectly is easier with the distributor in my bench vice
Thank you Mr. Towle, the other guy from Taxachusetts
