I am going through my Bumblebee system by system. The front suspension is close to finished. The motor is out to chase down some minor leaks, redo the RMS and trans output shaft seal and inspect the clutch components. I'll also be adding a 123 distributor, refreshed injectors, Bowlsby harnesses, Foley SS fuel lines, new soft fuel lines and vacuum lines, valve adjust, etc.
My question is about the CV joints. The grease looks like crap. One side was missing a gasket, several bolts were loose. I am leaning toward buying the replacement CV joints from PMB. Has anyone installed these? I'd like to keep these axles and go through them to learn, inspect and possibly use them on my 1970.
What would you do?

I had looked at some older threads on this subject. The PMB joints are re machined Type 1 joints. I saw some threads mention they may not be as durable as original 914 joints. Just looking for any user experience that is more recent.

Porsche has re-released these items. Buy new. I tried to rebuild mine and came up with marginal results. Old parts are high mileage and show it.

Pelican and PET are screwed up. Those joints are for 914/6 splines.
This is the new normal - businesses that don’t even know what they are selling, have had repeated returns because they don’t fit /4’s and can’t be bothered to update their websites.

I have purchased the new Porsche CV joints and they do fit /6 axles
Regarding modified parts for the /4 - buy with confidence from 914werke or PMB that is your best alternative besides finding NOS parts which will cost an arm and a leg, extremely hard to find.

I got a set from 914Werke and they fit well. Time will tell if they are strong enough ...
