914World.com _ 914World Garage _ What trans can bolt to Type 4 motor/flywheel.

Working on a swap kit project that will use a 914 flywheel/engine bolt pattern and was wondering if this would be usable for all VW transmissions as well? Will a 914 flywheel fit in all 12volt Type 1 bellhousings? VW Transporter?

Basically whatever a Type 4 engine would bolt to our kit would fit.

Thanks and please ask for details if I haven't been too clear.

914 motor will bolt up to any vw trans, the 4 bolt pattern is the same. Flywheel and clutch may or may not work. The 200mm flywheel will fit in any 12 volt vw bellhousing, or 6 volt with some grinding. 215mm flywheel will not fit.

You can also use the transmission from a 912E, but they are fairly rarer.

They are a 915 transmission with a special input shaft and clutch arm to mate with the 914 2.0 engine.

I think I have one in my stash.

Go to Kenedy Engineering (KEP)They know almost every engine in the world and sell the appropriate flywheel /clutch combo there is.
