Everyone
I was asked to post this by Brent’s family.
I am devastated to have to share the news that Brent has passed away
On Monday October 2 he left us to go tell the man upstairs how to fix this world.
I will miss him so very much. Heartbroken is an understatement.
Keep Elizabeth his wife in your prayers.
RIP and Godspeed buddy………

Sad to hear. He was very helpful
R.IP. , we lost another good one. In our thoughts and prayers.
Brent was one of the good guys. This hit me very hard this morning. The world is not as good of a place as it was when he walked it.
May his memory be a blessing for all that knew him on this earthly plane.

My late father in law used to say "nobody has made it through yet". My prayers and thoughts go out to the family and friends for their loss. Brent will be missed by many many people
Damnit. At this age I should be used to losing folks that I know and like but I’m not and Brent’s passing hurts.
Sad to hear this and thoughts and prayers are with his family. Master of his craft and I was always impressed with how he dove into his projects with such attention to detail.

Wow. I have a huge pit in my stomach just thinking about that. Terrible.
Stunned, saddened, a little angry even, but most of all reflective of the man I got to know in small way. He had such enthusiasm and curiosity for the world around him, both natural and mechanical. The only guy I ever knew who had an entire room devoted to amphibians! His love of wildlife was well documented throughout his entertaining restoration thread. Just as clear was his love of 914s and his clever, innovative methods to bring even the smallest component back to usefulness. Too bad he never got to build that garage, it was amazing the work he did in limited space. I will miss his contributions and celebrate his example.
Rest in peace my friend.
So sad. I remember his intro post he was a great guy indeed.
Way to young…
Rest in peace bbrock. I liked the cup holder most of all. Condolences to his family
terrible.. way too young. Prayers sent.
.
This is tough to hear. He was so helpful to me and an inspiration to everyone about how to chase this dream we share . He and I traded private messages many times both in the forum and emails. He was a real gentleman and I respected him deeply He he lived heroically and I’m grateful for his friendship.
Sad news!
Sad news another young one…
Condolences to his family.
I will continue to read his posts (build thread) for the years to come. His legacy will live on.
RIP.
Sorry to hear this. RIP Brent
That is so sad. RIP Brent, you will be missed by all.
So sorry to hear this. Way too young to go.

"No" was what popped into my head when I read this news. Total gut punch.
I had the privlidge and honor of meeting Brent a few years ago. He stopped by the Red Barn when he was in CA. As genuine as he was funny. I always looked forward to his comments on my build. Brent embodied being an overall great guy - quick to help others with his experience and opinion. Gentle with his constuctive critisism. His build thread has and will continue to help and inspire others. Just one example of his lasting imprint on this world.
I was worried when he stopped posting regularly and I trust he's at peace now. He will be missed by many.
Word fail at times like these but the other thought I have at times like this is:
Hold your loved ones close.
Brent,
Your comment on one particular part of my car means I think of you every time I see it - and I see it often. Know I'll be thinking about you. Thanks for being you and for what you added to our lives. Godspeed, my friend.
Ugh, just saw this. He was such a positive addition to this place. Great skill, enthusiasm, and sense of humor.
Godspeed, Brent, and to your family as well.
Saddened and a bit shocked to read this. Figured he was on the road to recovery from that major life speed bump. I didn’t know the man but can genuinely relate to his trials and tribulations.
I’ll say it again, if you’ve hit the half century mark it’s time to schedule a colonoscopy if you’re due. Cancer really sux...
I’m gutted by this news. I consider Brent my 914 restoration brother and am going to miss him very much. I’d hoped we’d get to meet up with our 914s someday.
RIP

Ah crap. Brent reached out to me after a post over a year ago when I bought my BB. He was so gracious with offers of help and to meet up if I were driving through his area. We really didn't live that far apart. Now I wish I would have made that drive. RIP.
RIP Brent.
Very sad news. I believe I have read every page of his excellent built thread. He contributed so much to the 914world and most likely did not have enough time left to enjoy his beautiful 914 like he would have deserved it.
Hope there are some 914´s and open roads up there...RIP
Enjoyed his thread and always checked his updates. Fun when he got it running and shared with his experiences with his 914. He will be missed. Sorry to hear this, condolences to the family.
So saddened to hear of Brent’s passing. We were both restoring our ‘73 2.0s over the same time period and communicated often to compare progress and share tips. His commitment to the DIY nature of his project was unparalleled in the community.
He was one of the good guys and will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace, Brent, and my condolences to your family.
It just dawned on me that Brent was the Montana dude who started with a (kinda) crappy car and muscled through to make it into a really nice car.
This thread is just sad.
R.I.P. Brent
Rather than flowers a great way to honor Brent is to donate a small grove (3 trees) in memory of him. This option is on the same memorial contribution page. His love of the outdoors and its creatures will benefit from your donation.
I'm just now seeing the updates in the first post on this thread, and truly saddened to hear of Brent's passing.
His threads were fun to read and the progress he made on his car was an inspiration to those of us who share in the madness surrounding 914 ownership.
Brent was taken away at way too young of an age. My condolences to his wife, family and friends. Rest in peace ...
Sorry to hear this. Brent always was a source of positivity and creative thought. One more reason I need to spend a little more time here. I've got three trees that will go in the ground this weekend for him.

For a guy that states when growing up he likes cars not loved them he sure seemed to miss his calling. That repair was a serious accomplishment. Nice guy.
he was a good customer of ours, had many good talks with Brent
He will be missed. Just saw this.
He was an inspiration. RIP.
