Is this T2 heat exchanger gasket the same as type 4 gasket?

it is but for a 1.7/1.8L not the 2.0L

There is more than 1 type of exhaust gasket depending on year/engine.

I knew it must be too good to be true. It looks the same as the 2 ltr.

This one is 7bucks. The type 4 one is $22-29.

Post a picture of the muffler end of your HE’s. The correct HE to muffler gasket is not dependent on displacement. The differences in gaskets is subtle, but they’re dif.

ALL VW Type 2 1973- and Type 4 1.7, 1.8 IS the same gasket.

Can't seem to add the pics I want. That ruins the whole reason for the post.

My point is that some sellers (eBay) show pic of gasket for maybe a 1.7 or 1.8 and say it fits 76 912 (minus the E). Awfully confusing. The only one I feel is the correct one is
Pelican and Stoddard. They are $24-29 each. Whereas the very similar other gasket is 8 bucks. Anyone have insight on this? I would think the 2.0 914 gasket would be the same
as the 2.0 912E gasket.
