914World.com _ 914World Garage _ NOS/Concours Fuchs wheel pic?

Posted by: Rusty Mar 31 2024, 09:13 AM

Does anyone happen to have a pic of a NOS 4-bolt fuchs wheel?

I had some wheels refinished - specified factory original - and they don't look correct to me. I would prefer to have my ducks in a row when I talk to the shop next week.

thanks,
Rusty

Sorry, but I'll hold off on that. Our community is a small one. Honest mistakes happen. New guys get hired and trained, etc. Before I post anything, I want to give the shop a chance to make it right.

I *think* I'm correct, but I want to be sure.

And if it gets made right - that's the story I want to tell.

I agree!

If I did the wheels and they weren't to the customers satisfaction I'd WANT my customer to come to me first before posting my screw up in an open forum.

If the customer had good examples of "correct" it would make the re-do easier.

After I fixed them, I would want the customer to post...

The "making it right" is MORE important than the original job IMO.

I wasn’t asking for business names, just a pic of the wheel that’s in doubt.

Exactly. Trying to take the high road here. Don't need a pile-on or drama.

There are lots of pics on Google. After 50 years, most have been refinished or polished or whatever. Just hoping for a somewhat authoritative picture.

that sure looks right on the money.
last time i saw one was 20 odd years ago on a crayfords 73 2.0
they were still factory finish.
memory says they looked pretty much like that.

Not NOS….that would be a miracle after 50 years

NOS frosted 15 x 7" Fuchs right out of the Porsche box. Center cap is custom.

They should look two tone, you can see it in wonkipop photos, the raised pedals are smooth (almost shiny), lower section looks dull, like it was media blasted.

Disregard the sticker on the center cap but I'm pretty sure mine are real and unrestored.
You can see the "two-tone" of the shinier petals (and lip) and the frosted look of the background.

I stumbled across an NOS set of five mahle’s (4 lug) with caps and lugs in NOS boxes. Have no idea what to do with them but they are cool smile.gif

The gas burners and Fuch’s were also restored by Al.

Here is mine. Original and unrestored. Raised spokes kinda satin, background kinda frosted. May have been shinier before the 50 years and 120k miles of use. Not able to take pic of the spare, which has none of the use wear. Maybe later this week.

Beautiful car and yes, ours is Delphi green. The car is amazing and was restored using a lot of rare NOS parts.

Are these all restored wheels or are the Fuchs NOS and not refinished?

Thanks for the photos guys. The trend is pretty clear.

No, the 4 lug Mahle’s are NOS and still in the branded Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen boxes. The NOS lugs and caps look like they are from the 80’s.
