This is a factory black '73/'74 transitional; I've got numbers from both years in it. It had been in a fender bender years before I bought it and is missing the front serial plate. The passenger fender was replaced and the body serial was cut out of the old one and put into this one... that being said, it was done super well.
All that to say, I don't feel guilty about cutting this car.
It's going in for paint this weekend. I'm keeping the factory black, but will be going all out on the paint and clear coat.
Here are some before pics.
And this is what I'm aiming to achieve.
Looks Great!....those steelies with long studs look great when the body was still narrow. Isn't this the car with the bad-ass suspension?
Black flared 914's always look so cool and sort of mean or menacing. Can't wait to see the painted version!
Looks good. Nice job.
That looks great, keep posting pics. Love the GT look. Mark
Can't wait to see the end results!
Are you trying to match the factory black, or going with a different black?
Nice job on the flares
Welcome to the Black GT Group!
Making me want to get mine going before my IROC and 911S projects.
Where are you having it painted at?
you're not painting the windshield frame?
She's getting closer.
That is getting closer!
Painter might already be doing this:
Would recommend removing the side rockers. It's a great opportunity to paint the sill they rest on and gives a nice clean look. They come off very easily.
The doors, lids, bumpers, etc., are getting painted today. He will start on the car after those are done.
Very nice- it's nice after all that work to even see them in primer.
