I'm on a toll road to hell and can't see an exit. I was happy with the performance of my stock 2.0L six and had planed on just doing a restoration/ track prep until...
...I drove a friends Euro 3.0 equipped /6 complete with race rubber. This car was scary past 1/2 throttle. Bruce's comment sums it up; "a 914 wasn't made to go like this".
To make matters worse, while at Barnes and Noble picking up some books for the kids, I quickly looked at the automotive section. Sitting out on top, was Wayne's new Engine rebuild book. I had to but it; didn't I?
Now these bad thoughts of power and highway storming are bouncing around in my head. Is there a cure? can anyone tell me how to exit the devils highway? SOMEONE SHOW ME THE CW WAY!
Unless a CW looks at the engine case numbers.... I can install a 3.0 and make it look like a stock 6.
I say enjoy the damn cars with some power....

The sound of the Devil back there makes you insane.
The only escape is a ride in a 375 GTB, or a Muira SV, very visceral.

On a more serious note...
If you can cough up the dough to upgrade from a 2.0 to a 3.0, GO FOR IT!
(sell your soul if you have too )
cheers,
Jeroen
Dave,
That "friends" car wasn't Johns was it???
Mark
Oh, yes. JD's car was fright (especially with Dave driving ) Compared to my horsepower impaired 1.7L, it was an exponential existential experience. I have a simple solution to your problem, one you created yourself: your two boys. A heavy layer of guilt about food on the table and college educations. Just call me KillJoy.
Dave Dave ??
The Dave that still doesnt have a running 914 ?? The guy who AutoX's other peoples cars about twice a year ??LOL
B
Dave, at least in a 2.0 you will have an excuse for losing to me.
Or for getting passed
Wrong Dave, Brad. My 914 runs and I never AX another's car. JD offered to let me drive several time in the past, but I finally got up the nerve to do so.
Mark, what make you so sure you'll beat me? Once I get a little more seat time, we'll see what happens.
Bruce, If you wanted to drive a car faster than your's, you could have asked Sean (my 5 YO son) for a ride in his Power Wheels go cart. Besides, who needs food when you can have that rush everyday. I'll eat PB&J daily for that.
Thanks.. other Dave.
Glad to hear we have a few Daves with running cars.
I love the comment about PB&J... The wife thinks I'm nuts for eating that stuff. Its cheap.
