I heard from David about 3 weeks ago. He told me he had pancreatic cancer. He had a good attitude and was headed for the Mayo Clinic for Chemo treatments. I planned on going to see him when he felt up to a visit. I was going to try to see him tomorrow but did not heard back. Stumbled onto this Go fund me Link.
Please help his family if you are able. He is a wonderfully creative artist and 914 enthusiast.

Oh man that is terrible news and now in hospice.
Wow, hate to hear that. All the best.
Prayers to David a long time friend.
I have some of his wild life pictures & memories of David.
Tom
Aww man, his car is one of my favorites. Wishing him the best.
Damn. Prayers sent
Prayers to David and family
Prayers sent.
Sending along my best wishes & prayers to you David
This just sucks. Praying for positive results.
enjoyed his posts and art over the years..
He is in hospice? That's sad news. They say by the time they diagnose pancreatic cancer, it's too late. My niece's husband had it and lasted 2 years, passed away at 55. Sad.
Very sad
Shit, I am so sorry for David and his family. No greater love from your family to be there at the end of life on this earthly plane.
When I first joined 914world in 07, David ( @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=1315 ) started his posted build on his car, I was amazed at his work.
Best to all,
Bob B
I hope this helps- Thank you for being an early supporter
You donated $25
Sorry to hear this, but if it’s any consolation, pancreatic cancer isn’t the death sentence it once was. I have a coworker who’s eyes turned yellow one day a few years ago from jaundice, he went to have it checked out and the immediate diagnosis was indeed PC. He underwent the Whipple procedure (a fascinating operation) and is now not only in remission, but is back to work and doing well.
I hope the same happens for Mr. Chapman.
Cancer truly sux, I’ll not hijack here, but I seriously implore any member of this fine community to schedule a colonoscopy if you’re approaching 50 and haven’t had one.
I wish I had...
Cancer sucks!
Thanks everyone. I have not heard back since trying to connect with Dave. donate to his family if you are able. Dave would do it for you.
I haven't heard back either.
I sent a message thru the Go Fund Me page. I hope to hear back.
F cancer
That is so sad! Prayers to David and his family. He is a really fun to be with.
I am not sure why but the fund appears to have stopped. No word on Chappy's condition.
No! I have always appreciated Dave's posts, and thus the man himself.
He will be missed here, and already is—and I hope there's a way to get that message and some of these others to him and his family.
I'm really hoping the Gofundme for Dave is broken, if not then what does that say about this community that we can't raise 10K to help cover his hospice care...
I sent a message thru the site but didn't get a response. Kelly, do you have facebook? maybe you could check with the Bro in law that started the fund to check status on our friend.
All, I heard from Kelly. He said the Bro in law may not have face book. I see the fund moved slightly so it seems to be still working.
Things most of you do not know about Chappy. He has a severely challenged son he raised and cared for his whole life until now. Ollie is Autistic. He has speech issues and has/had a very scheduled life. Chappy would take him certain places on certain days. I am sure you all have seen Rain Man. This is Ollie with speech issues added.
Chappy would bring him to the book store to look thru all car magazines on a regular basis. Ollie was David's life. This is one of the reasons you would not see him a long distance events.
The last conversation I had with him he was very concerned about how Ollie was going to handle his life. At the time we spoke, Ollie was with David's brother. He was actively looking for a independent living place where he could have his own room with his own TV so he would not have to spend all his time with others in a day room as this would cause anxiety.
Most of the time we find out about one of our friends after their passing. This time we have a chance to help him on his journey.
Oh my, so sorry for David and his family. My wife was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer nearly four years ago. She's amazing and in very rare company to still be alive and enjoying her garden, her painting and and an occasional drives with me. It's nearly undetectable until it spreads well beyond the pancreas and then it's almost impossible to control. Living with the impossible, we just pray for a little time as medical breakthrough are nearly at hand.
MY thoughts and warm wishes go out to him and his loved ones.
My thoughts and well wishes are going out to David and his family.
Too many of us have been affected by this horrible disease!
David's (Chappy) health issue reminded me of long time ago, Karl and his son Hunters handicapped life with struggles caring for their disabled family members.
David & Karl were close friends and visited often checking out Karl's 914-6 in Florida.
Prayers to everyone on this site for health and comfort when life changes.
Tom
Donated. let's all help as much as we can....

We must tell everyone we love that we do, you never know
Best to all,

Updates (1)
Today
by Frankie Rubinger, Organizer
Good Morning and here is the most recent update for David.
David has been home receiving 24hr hospice care. This is not covered by insurance and we would like to alleviate some of the financial burden David and his wife Terri are facing and each dollar donated will be matched by myself and my brother Tom.
David has been at home with many visitors including his family, friends and loved ones. He will inevitably pass away within the month and we would like to lift up together with the support around him to pay for the care he’s more than deserving of.
We are 1/4 of the way to our goal and we greatly appreciate those who have already donated and are very grateful for the current generosity but need more help to achieve this goal for an amazing man whose spent his entire life doing for others.
Thank you again to everyone who has donated. This is the roughest of times and we appreciate everyone pulling together to support our dad, David Chapman.
Damn, donated, this site has been an amazing place where many of us have 'met' great 914 friends online, but the flip side of being on this site for a long time is facing the realities of some of those friends passing on, sucks man
STF, the bird, Club, World. Pre home internet for me. That’s a bunch of years accounted for. Middle age and younger are now middle and are just old. And everything that goes with that. 71. How old is David? On Medicare yet?
Just donated.
Bumping the thread
Just over $4,000 of $10,000 goal
just donated.. So sad...
Thank you Sir for posting the update. We truly have a special group here. Many friends we know and never met. Many friends we met and will never forget. The best to all of you.
I received a message from Frankie. David passed away last night peacefully in his sleep. They are thinking of putting his car back together in his honor. The last time I spoke with David he said he had all the parts to reassemble the engine. I plan to see what I can do to help
Thanks all for taking time to read this
Keep Dave in your thoughts today.
Sir Andy, would you add Dave to our list of fallen Brothers and Sisters
Chappy at my old house. We were pulling the chassis on his other Porsche.

Always tell your people that you love them.
You never know when it may be your last time seeing them.
Best to all, Bob B
Never knew him personally but interacted online a few times...knew his stuff and was willing to share it. Looking over his build, WOW! What an imagination and attention to detail! Absolutely beautiful car. Rick, best of luck to you and to whomever joins in to put his car back together! I'd love to be there if only to listen to those of you who knew him best about his life, his personality, and what made him happiest.
So sad, RIP David Chapman.
Rest in Peace David.
