Perhaps we can meet for breakfast, lunch, dinner ! What's up with the SoCal contingent?

Will probably go up Saturday, at least, via Mulholland and PCH. Anyone want to meet AM? Joe was talking about bringing Neverland and throwing a BBQ. Sat Night?
what happens on what day??
Breakfast? Where? I'll be there!
Well, if I can cash in on Bob Mitchell's offer, I'll be up there on Sunday for the GAF. I won't be driving MY teener... but Bob needs a pilot for his other car, in hopes of selling it. Wish I could join you guys on Sat. Maybe I can figure out a way to go without a teener?
C.
Can someone setup a webcam at that infamous railroad crossing, just in case?
I'll be down there with my 911 Friday nite. Looking forward to checking out all the Carreras and the swap meet. Of course, since I'm a certified concours weenie I'm in the concours on Sunday too.
Details at: http://www.germanautofest.com/
Marcie & I will be going down on Friday. We'd be up for dinner, breakfast, whatever. Marcie also is doing the CW thing with our SC. I'll be taking the Bus down with parts. Anybody need anything specific? The Cap'n & I have a bunch of parts, and it's hard deciding what all to bring. I will be bringing a stripped pair of early doors, if one of you AX folks need lighter doors.
I'll be bringing up a small caravan of assorted Pcars from Studio City. 914-6s, 912, 996TT,996 Cab, 911sc and anyone else that meets up at the U.S. Post Office , Laurel Canyon just south of Ventura Bl. Sat AM between 7:15 and 7:45
Anyone not familiar with the area & wants to meet-call me @ 818-507-6937
Marty
I'm planning on going. Not sure when I'll get there. Anyone have a hotel room floor I can crash on Sat. night?
The Cap'n and the Lovely Lyn are contemplating an evening at the fairgrounds track watching the sprint cars on Saturday. Anybody interested? The Cap'n
I'll be there....selling next to the Krusty one....
Sunday only....if at all!
Going Sunday for sure. Carlos will be driving the 74 and I'll take the Chalon.
Arriving Friday noonat Hol'day Inn; Sat; Sun
I'll be there Sunday for the swap, don't see much point in Sat, when everything on Sat. will still be there on Sunday plus the swap.
Maybe do both day's next year if they honor the 914.
I'll see if I can manage to not get parked in the corner or by a dumpster this year. Seems to happen every time I go to this event.
-Mike D.
I will be there all weekend. Come stop by the WEVO booth to say hi and check out all the new products! There are even some 914 related items.
-Britain
I'll be there...

Why 0530? They won't let you in until 7, and that costs $20 instead of the regular $10. The Cap'n |
Sunday early. Test out new super duper tricky gearbox and schtuff. Sneak through the swap meet. Would like another look at Dave B's black car though...
We'll be at the literature meet 10-2 sat & sun! Stop by, I'll have some club goodies for those sporting a 914 club hat or other club paraphanalia.

Shoot, I didn't even know it was going on! I'll look into getting a flight down for the weekend. I would be interested in meals or hitting up a few pubs with fellow 914er's when (if) I make it down.

I just went to pick my car up at the shop for it's pre RRC tune up. I ran into a guy with a gorgeous yellow 914 with a 2.7RS motor in it. Rolled rear fenders, 5 lug chromed and painted, custom seats...the works. His name is Russell. He will be there at the GAF. He hadn't heard about this site so I told him to check it out. Look for him over there and talk him into checking us out. His was one of the nicest cars I have seen here in Phoenix.

...and don't forget to LOOK both ways after exiting the freeway offramp, while passing under the freeway for the dreaded Union Pacific
Marty
If anyone else from the bay area is thinking about going and wants to carpool, PM me. I also have a hotel room booked for Sat night that I might consider sharing.
It looks like I will make it Saturday afternoon. Sunday is my dad's 65th birthday so I figure I'd better not miss that...

Dan, college boys (the likes of Aaron, Matt & Brandon) are only allowed to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon, Natty Ice, Coors, and Budwiser (the KING of beers). It isn't until they finish school that they graduate onto the finer brews in life.
Mikey will no doubt be sipping on a bottle of Jager by 7am.

I might caution you that, as a state facility, no alcohol is allowed on the premises. If alcohol is found among the sellers, buyers, or spectators, they're obligated by law to make you leave, Bob could lose the priveleges to hold future GAFs in Ventura, and I, for one, would BE PISSED! Be cool out there! The Cap'n

Trust me, you don't have the required permit, you'll find the exit a LOT faster than you planned ......................... The Cap'n
They sell beer by licensed vendors.....private alcohol possesion is a bozo no no....
Mr Cox: What day(s) are you going? I just saw this thread
Well gang, we're all packed up & ready to head out. My cell is (805) 712-4675. Please let me know what's happening for dinner, breakfast, etc. I'd really like to get together with other Club members this weekend. See ya at GAF!

Let's all meet at Z's at lunch time.
Easy to find historic GAF land mark.
Lunch sounds good. I'll be hanging around the swap meet in the AM.
Lets all meet and form a circle around Howard.....our fearless leader! Say 11 o'clock on the grassy knoll ("Peoples Choice" area)?

Plan? We don't got no estinkin Plan
Last I heard, Neverland was not making the trip, but Joe and /L would be coming up Sunday.
Sure, just leave it to Howard. OK, here's the deal. Sunday noon we meet at the Krusty/Butz Exposition. No, I don't know where it is, just listen for the flatulence. We will depart from there per the attached evacuation plan. Those returning to the fairgrounds can just make the short trip back on the 101. Refer any questions to Homeland Security. No whining, no racing! Hi Aaron

Damn Howie...why don't we just drive to Jamestown, RI for some lobster.....can't be that much farther........
Ok, maybe Pacific, MO for some crawdaddys & collard greens........
We will be camped at the railroad crossing waiting for the "p56barby-cue". Clothing optional.
gee.... gas at 3.20 a gal... and howie wants to do an enduro...
Change in plans -- my son had a huge tantrum earlier and refused to get ready to go, so we're gonna shoot for Sunday ~9am. Will have to leave by 11:45 for another event, but hope to see some of you there.
The GAF is a bomb! Great weather, Porsche automobiles and Porsche people. In addition to seeing Z, I saw a original Abarth Carrera! Attached is a picture of Marty(MSDS), myself(5five5.com) and Dave(TRE). Looking forward to seeing the gang tomorrow.......

Just got home from GAF. Not sure, but it looked like a smaller crowd than last year but still a great collection of P-cars! Saturday was the usual Ventura overcast in the am with a little clearing in the pm; Sunday it was beautiful all day! Seemed like there were more Teeners there too. Two Carrera GT's showed up today. Saw at least three 914/6's for sale in the For Sale Corral; most were asking around $16-$18K; one very nice one was asking $33k! The exhibitor focus seemed to be on 356's and tuners; some neat stuff! Renegade Hybrids had an interesting 914 on display with a turbo'd 2004 WRX engine; approx 260hp before any chip tweaking! Will post some pics tomorrow; too bushed now. BTW - next year (9-10 September 2006) will be our turn at GAF - 914's will be the focus! Plan now!
Yeah...I noticed that the hardcore early birds were not in evidence.....the swap was dead until 10am. Then the flighty crowd showed up.
Mostly the little stuff sold, not much of the big ticket items. Still had fun, saw a lot of familiar faces and the sun came out and baked us....
