Wow I'm still tired.
what a weekend.
I made a few mistakes and will get to that in a minute, but WOW I had fun!
2 day event at pueblo.
ran some decent times.
They had sprint races on saturday and an enduro on sunday.
Just to make it exciting they did a "lemans" start on saturday. Not a real lemans start, but a safer version.
Each driver had a designated runner, while the driver was fully strapped into their car with the motor turned off.
Cars were gridded right on the track.
When the green flag flew the runners all ran across the track and tagged the drivers hand.
that was the signal that allowed you to start the motor and go. CRAZY... 25 cars all pulling out at the same time.
My group is big bore, so needless to say the shelbys and camaro's pulled away in the 1/4 mile from a standing start.
wheweeeeeeeyyyyyy:

So on Sunday was the enduro. They combined all of the fendered cars into one class and all of the open wheel cars into a 2nd class.
Talk about traffic.
it was like 3 races rolled into one.
what a blast!
61 cars took the checkered flag in the production group that I ran.. The sight was rather amazing for a newbie like me. Here we are trying to get gridded out:

[In a MGB ? Sorry............ Enduros kick ass.........It is a feat just to finish. |
Despite my rookie error... I really had a BLAST!
it was so fun to mix it up with all different types of cars.
With 2 times the normal cars out there the traffic was thick, and you were either passing or being passed on every single corner:

battled lap after lap with a couple of cars.
surprisingly some of the MG's and the Datsun, could pull me in the straights..... Dang those motors are pretty well developed compaired to my stock motor.
but I could actually out corner most of them:

the shot of your timer.....the firesuit has hair on the legs.\
Car = Cooper? The "suprisingly fast" one. Trying to think of all the trash that came from Britian.
I love these 1950 british version of a dzus fastener (this is the same car as above):

Brant,
Your car looks like it's really down in the grass. Can you give an indaction of rid heigth ? for example: distance from pavement to the donuts under the floor pan.

Sitting on your leather glove....waiting to be dispatched.....Falcon (Sprint)? Coventry Climax (don't look...no sex here). Highly modified Spriget? Gotta be about a 55 Austin Healy.....but the door handles throw me. |

Nice goin Brant. And Bob.
Get a phone number off that for sale sign on the nice green Spitfire?
Believe it or not... this is actually the pole sitter and overall winner...
This car is freaking amazing and driven by an amazing driver.
He lapped 10 seconds a lap faster than me.
Driver is Nick Ham, and he is semi-pro in that he has driven stints at sebring and some of the big races for some of the big teams:

That hood reminds me of an Austin Healy...... but that grille?
Datsun 2000?
Thanks Doug... had a blast.
Gint, sharron called and she said "no more spitfires!"
Greg you mean this taurus:

Ferg, this ones for you too.
Dave Seeland tows his 356 with a westy
He has a second westy that just got wrecked but is also a tow vehicle.
Dave by the way is the national 356 advisor for Pano national:

The winner is Locust right?
I wish my taurus looked like that!
Brant in the lotus pic, the guy in the hat, is Thomas, the guy I told you about in Boulder... You really need to meet him and see his shop one of these days.
Ferg.
3R racing from Denver had a big showing.
They build some NICE cars.
If you don't know 3R, they used to run a couple of porsches and corvettes in speedvision GT championship.
This year they are running vipers in speedvision (I think for the Archers?)
anyway they build really REALLY killer cars. Here a few of theirs:

Great pics Brant... thanks for sharing them.
What a great collection of vintage race cars.
Jerry Schouten owns the above yellow 911 and this 911 also. The yellow one took parade in race car class a few years back. The red white and blue car is Jerry's new toy and its FAST. I saw it during the build and its all carbon fiber, even the roof:

More 3R handywork...
man this car is really really really nice.
The owner is Alan Benjamin, and I've run against him in his I production 911 T in PCA for a long time.
this car is on another level though.
It took 3R 1.5 years... and I think a bunch of small banks to build it:

Hey.. dual front coolers exiting in the wheel well...
how about that:

I love the air intake for that cooler....
notice the turn signal lense:

Here is a neat FF trailer:

Brant, the McLaren is from the same shop in Boulder, I saw it about three weeks ago... You really need to run out there on lunch with me and meet Thomas.
Ferg
Thank you, that was a great experiance.I hope it brought as much pleasure to the rest of the club as it did for me
Bernie
Hey...
I was just checking out http://www.3rauto.com/
the web site...
wow...
you've got to admire the fact that 3R is the 2004 Speedvision champions and the number of wins they have accumulated... plus the freakin cars are amazing!
brant
(brant@Oct 3 2005, 12:59pm)
I think I have to second that one!
It was still an admirable placing, despite the oops, considering the competition in numbers and types of cars...........In my EXPERT opinion.
Michelle (just in case you didn't know who this was)
Wow Brant...just got done looking at the photos...great stuff, thanks for posting. BTW, I knew it was a Turner but you gave it away before I got to the end of the thread
well then you had me beat...
I didn't know what it was.
brant
Congrats, Brant! Very cool!
I love the flamingos, and that yellow/purple 356 is quite a sight as well. But nothing beats that grin on your face!
Thanks for sharing!
