Hey There.... bad - day with the teener, went to start her for trip home, no-go....
She turns-over, but never fires-up, and fuel actually came out the exhaust !!!!
D-jet FI system, thought it might be my optical ignitian points, so re-installed condensor /points, still no-go ....
What Gives, all connections, fuses, and grounds are good....
This is the first time that she has left me stuck (needed a ride home) but I do need to get her home, or pay for long tow!
Is there anything I can do (emergency type) temporary just to go @ 12miles ?
Then I'm thinking CARBs Baby .....
Any ideas//
Thanks,
- Wheelo
check to see if you have spark.
Start from the spark plugs and work back...
It might be your coil.
get a multimeter, turn car on measure voltage to coil....should be close to 12V from + post to car ground.
look at your points....are they pitted.? are they new or old?
same thing with condensor.....
i would say coil is bad though.....

If you've got fuel running out the exhaust pipe:
1.) Injection stuck open
2.) Injector being triggered all the time
3.) Fuel pressure way to high (very remote)
4.) Cold start injector stuck open
BTDT.................................
PS....you prolly have spark, but it won't ignite a can (cylinder) full of gas...it just puts the fire out.
5.) Un-plugged head temp sensor...

Thanks Guys for input / help !
I have deceided to tow her back to the garage, as a low pressure storm is coming-in, she'll be safer and I can work better @ home.
The Points were petronix / ignitor (sorry, for confusion), Put stock mechanical back.
Coil is good, I do have another.
What would cause the FI to be stuck, always-on ?
That describes exactly what the engine is doing!
Really appreciate the help/experience, I just started a new job, 2 months, and I need my car @ 2-3 days a week!
Peace

Fuel filter is fairly new/clear..... don't see any ......
keep the ideas flowing as once I get back with the car....
I will try to repair/ troubleshoot....

Slits - thanks, CHT is brand new, changed @ 1month ago ! seems like a failed circuit/ component ?
Have you checked the injectors to see if they are actually opening and not closing? If so, then there's a decent chance that one of the output transistors in the ECU has failed. Get yourself a "noid" light from your FLAPS (for ~$5, or pay $35 for the "fuel injection tester" on evil-bay which is the same thing) and check to see if the ECU is telling the injectors to open and never close. If so, the ECU is the primary culprit; this is a known failure mode.
Where are you located? I have a D-jet tester that checks the ECU. If you're in the Bay Area, I may be able to dig it out and drag it to you... If you're elsewhere, Pelican should still have a D-jet tester they can rent out. Don't know the terms, though.
Oh, and I would still check to make sure the CHT sensor is plugged in securely....

Just because the CHT is new doesn't mean it is not bad.
DD may be onto something with the "dead brain" theory.
