i got 35mpg out of my 1.8L with D-Jet. and i drove it fairly hard ...

And jake gets 45 on his engines. 44 at 60mph...

By default, isn't that what I have with my 75 1.8?

My dual progressive 1.8L bus motor got right at 30 mpg at the RRC while being flogged most of the time. What really impressed me was that John's (VegasRacer) CIS 3.0L six got somewhere around 28 mpg on the same trip!

Tell me more about the 1.8 L bus engine. How EXACTLY did you achive that figure? Pretty please....?

well, not exactly. first, you got L-Jet, not D-Jet. which shouldn't make much difference in itself. but your car is MUCH heavier than mine out of the box. my car is a '70.
also, you got all that smog stuff on your motor, which will rob you of some power ...
there was nothing special about my 1.8L. oilbath air filter, SSI HEs and a manta muffler. ran like a champ and got good gas-milage ...

My motor is running dual weber progressives, which is pretty odd, I've never seen another set for the type 4. They don't offer any advantage as far as fuel economy though. I think it all comes down to proper jetting. When I was up in Moab, my idle dropped 300 rpm from being too fat at the higher elevations. I really did drive the car hard. The motor pulls well up to 5500 rpm, so it may not have a stock bus cam in it. If I drove nice and didn't open up the secondaries, I wouldn't be surprised if it got 35mpg or better.
Just make sure not to go too lean, engines don't like that. A little fat is much better than a little lean. If you can get ahold of an LM-1 air/fuel meter you can dial everything in just right. Good luck.

L-jet, D-jet....I can't ever remember which one mine has. They are all the same at my level of wrenching skills.

In my 912E I have gotten 38 many times and up to 42 with a female driving it...
The Super 2 Liter will stomp them all though!
I should be 100% finished with it this weekend.

More than likely only in KIT form.. I'm building one for an engine customer as we speak other than the test version, and according to the time we end up with in it I may/ may not be able to offer it in turn key form.. BUT it will be available in kit form most definately.
