914World.com _ 914World Garage _ It worked for me: NEW GAS PEDAL

Posted by: drdstny Oct 13 2005, 11:25 PM

Hi all,

Dunno if there's an "It Worked For Me" section here, but maybe we need one. As a gesture, I'll offer up something to get things started.

The $66 Porsche 914 gas pedal is on Intergalactic Backorder due to a short supply of Unobtainium. Well, I needed a gas pedal, so I picked up a $13 plastic pedal from Performance Products and it works with a slight modification.

The pedal is for '94-'98 993 cars, and the modification is to elongate the outboard mounting hole by 5mm. As an added bonus, you get a firmer positive stop at the floor board which can be trimmed if you have tree trunks for legs.

Performance Products is in Van Nuys, their number is 800-423-3173 or at performanceproducts.com. The part number for the pedal is 911085. I'm not affiliated with them other than as a long-time Benz & Porsche customer.

Sorry if this is in the archives somewhere or if I'm beating up the local 914club parts Grand Hooha.

I am not sure which one it is but I also have a 911 pedal in my car. Works alot better then the 914 one and I think it cost $10. I didnt have to modify anything though. Its completely made from plastic no metal hinge to rust out.

That'd be kind of a neat idea.. something between "classics" and "search the archives" for cool solutions to problems that don't end up in the classics.. maybe "914 tips and tricks"?

BTW, I agree... pics! biggrin.gif

Wow, this sounds like a pretty cool tip. My gas pedal sort of flops from side to side under my foot. I could live with it, but it would be nice to have something a little more precise feeling.

It sounds like the pedal you are descibing has a single piece of flexible plastic for the hinge; is this correct ?

Geez guys, I've probably got 2 or 3 pedals in my stash. PM me & make an offer if you need one.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

I have the same thing. Easier to find and cheaper. Works perfect and it's still Porsche! beer.gif
