I notice some of the cars are really modified, no windshield, or rocker panels, & huge tires, etc. But very few have a rear or front spoiler?
Why?

Hay, is that Mike Zotz? I wondered what happened to him.
He musta have gotten pissed (eh, what's new?) and moved from Santa Barbara to Florida.....gave up that cush Gubbmint job?
Cool pics other than this one

Thanks for the great photos!
Excellent pictures Doug. Thanks for posting them.
redshift, I think that's a BMW 2002, not a Pacer.

ZOTZ Racing is Ron Zitza from Orlando, they have a street car shop and prep quite a few 914-6s for Vintage.

a PACER?!? HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! you got all excited didn't you?!?
yup, it was a bimmer.
how about a saab sonnet ..... does that do anything for you?!?
thanks for all the flowers everyone!!
this was my 1st trip to sebring. saw derek bell and (i believe) elliot forbes r., don't know if they were driving, i never got my hands on a race schedule or an entrants list. http://www.hsrrace.com/HSR/HSRHome.nsf/weblinks/EJEN-66HMUB?OpenDocument#rr is a link to HSR's site and the race results and lap times.
did about 5 or 6 laps around the track during lunch break, MAN!!! when they say the track is rough ..... they ain't kidding!!! you must really get beat up in the stiff cars!!!
lots of 914s. this hsr event seemed to be more vintage rather than historic, like some of the hsr races i've attended in the past. i wonder if the historic cars are beeing raced in another series or they aren't being raced at all.
i'll post some pics from the paddock, some interesting parts on the 914s.
the paddock, a loooooong walk, and i was only 1/3 of the way down the line!!
only saw 1 street 914. this appears to be a factory -6, key on the left, but there was no vin tag on the A pillar. it was looking a little rough. this is the same car ury914 and i saw at a brumos swapmeet 2 yrs ago. looked like it was there for some work, we noticed it has no side markers, don't know if it is a euro model. it had an access hole in the firewall. iirc there was a puddle of water in the floor from the rain the night before. didn't talk to the owner, saw him doing track touring laps, it sounded really good!!

interesting car here. they must have bought this from brumos. i saw brumos running it a yr or 2 ago at moroso, it was a new 914 for them then.

Yes, thanks very much for sharing. The heck with the comment about the AMC 2002 or the Sonnet, one of your photos has a Bugeye Sprite bringing up the rear. Talk about being in the wrong heat...! The Sprite was (and perhaps is...although they are getting harder to find) the original budget racer. It also got the same dis job from Healey owners that the 914 did from the ol'time PCA crowd. 'Course the PCA guys race them now..
o2 sensors? it was carbed, the sensors led to a plug in the rear bumper (see previous foto)
oh ... and what tranny is that?
930 calipers frt & rear
frt
BugEyes!
Gotta say, I was born in 1958, I can't afford a '58 356 likely never will
But I have been lurkin, looking at 1958 Bugeye sprites. SCCA racers run $8 to $15K and nice runners can be had for 914 prices. I could see myself fixing one on the side of the road
one of the cage tubes runs through the fire wall, engine side
inside
and a bar in the frt trunk
and the shifter
this was a nice clean car!!

getting strung-up

is there a spacer on the cv?
inside
telton pedals? clutch cable was straight back and rapped around the end of the tranny, (see rear shot) it's covered in thermal wrap the other cable is the throttle i believe.
shifter

boxster monoblocks on the frt and carrera on the rear.
another car, turbo on the frt
don't know about the rear
reverse lock out?!?
another
yet another
does HSR allow open pipes? i just see headers and megaphones.
hydaulic clutch?
have i crashed the server yet?!?
everyone bored yet?! just a couple more of the prototypes then i done.

Thanks. Very nice pics. Especially those sifter, engine, chlutch and pedal details.
But, those taillights ???

Oooooh shhhhh*****ttttt !!!!!
T A I L L G H T S
Sorry, but you all know what I mean
Looks like he is going for the 911R taillight look.
I din't realize that locking out reverse was a big issue. I've never hit reverse when going to 2nd. But I been making that shift for a long time. Maybe guys that are new to the tranny have a problem. (I have caught 1st when going to 3rd, very painfull )
Doug, you are now the O-fish-al 914Club Race Track Photo Man. You need to get one of those vests with all the pockets and a goffy hat and you'll if right in at the track.
Great job,
Doug,
Great photos
Thanks!
Van914
I believe they lock out first and reverse.
Are we bored yet Not a chance I could look at pics like these for days on end. Thank you sooo much for sharing

I'm pretty sure this is a Riley and Scott Mk-IIIC that was redesigned by the Rancho(?) racing team. |

the oxy sensor is common on carbed cars for jetting purposes. and the rear bumper plug in is not wired to the oxy sensor. Its a common receptacle used on formula cars (and others) to allow battery charging. |

Doug, for the 12 Hours, we will get together and you can borrow my Hot Pits Pass to take some shots.

Doug, anyone....
does anyone know the displacement on some of these teeners?
looks like a bunch of them ware SCCA cars, what displacement would they typically be of for scca?
brant
Brant, most of these cars are running 2.0 liters or 2.5. HSR has a 2.0 KlubSport class for 911s and 914-6s. There is some insane money being spent trying to squeese another hp out of these 2.0 liter monster. Then there is a class that takes anything above 2.0 up to 2.5, so most go 2.5. All engines have to be signed off by the builder to their specs. almost all the Zotz (black Blum Racing, silver, pink & white), The EFR car, are running 2.5s. My friend builds or dynos them all.
T.C.
The one with the oil cooler block off/filter, I wondered if it was bigger.
Is HSR an SCCA class?
or are some of them just simply double log booked?
good info
thanks
brant
