I think that it is built off the Google Earth engine.

The satellite image is not completely current, there are 2 construction projects near my house that don't appear to be represented. My garage was completed a year ago, but I can't tell if it's in the photo, funny angle and shadows, my roof was redone last Dec, I think that the picture shows my old white roof...

Guess I don't have it that bad, Just looked at Aaron's and it has him living in a church parking lot (which BTW is much closer to my house).

no, it doesn't allow you to specify your exact location/address.
security/privacy reasons.

it takes your zip code and finds the centroid of the surrounding area
and that's where it sticks the "SPØR" ...

Cool, Frapper is run off of maps.google.com. Totally better than Mapquest. Been using it for a while. You can set up your start location and create a short cut on your desktop. Double click icon, window opens with my house in the middle. It remembers my start location and all I need to do is add my destination. Boom. Nice to see the're expanding the capabilities. Frapper Beta version = or at least trying to.
I'll add me to the map and see where it puts me.

It put me in the middle of the Santa Monica Mountians Rec Area.
Probably at the bottom of the ravine where, after not making that curve, the car will eventually come to rest.
I guess it is a good security feature. Puts you at a non-physical address within your zip code.

200+ on now, and not a single entry from West Virginia, Iowa, North or South Dakota, Nebraska, or Montana. Granted, some of those are pretty empty states with little in the way of interesting places to drive, but WV has some very nice roads.

I started this for the 912 group, and it started a flame war with people bitching that all it would do is attract people to their garage to steal their cars!

One of the problems with it is it must have an old postal zip code database. My zip changed about 4 years ago, but this doesn't recognize it. FYI, my zip is 87144, not what's listed on the site! No matter, though!

Joe! I already did it! One of the problems with it is it must have an old postal zip code database. My zip changed about 4 years ago, but this doesn't recognize it. FYI, my zip is 87144, not what's listed on the site! No matter, though! Liz

google maps still does not have sat imagery for my location. The area around York PA is a dead zone. No imagery from until you get to Harrisburg.

I just registered. I'm in Longueuil, a suburb of Montreal. On my browser, the first map that comes up is all of North America; the name of Montreal is not there, but Longueuil is !
However, when I registered, the system did not recognize Longueuil as a valid city name and I registered as living in Montreal.
A bit strange, but who cares, really.

I guess they didn't put in their location because when I pulled up the map I didn't see any Canadians. Today I see 6 members and my locator doesn't show up now either??????

Click on 'Show next xxx Markers' at bottom of map. Pretty slow to load, so you may want to zero in on your area (+ - bar thingy on left side of map) before you do it.
