914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Value of 914-6 Owner's Manual ???

Posted by: propricer Oct 21 2005, 10:51 AM

Have 2 factory 914-6 Owner's Manual that I wanted to establish the value on ..

1) Earliest one :
Front cover says VW PORSCHE 914 6 Owner's Manual
Inside front cover says 4621.20 500VI/70 Edition XI/69
In at least good if not excellent condition.

2) Later one :
Front cover says Porsche 914-6 Owner's Manual USA
Inside front cover says 4621.23 500 III/70 Edition II/70
In fair condition.

Any of you historians got any clues as to what either ( or both ) might be worth ???

A couple of bucks I guess.

Posted by: propricer Oct 21 2005, 10:53 AM

Hey, Olav ... I'd be more than happy to give you a couple of bucks for yours !!!

Posted by: ArtechnikA Oct 21 2005, 10:53 AM

how 'bout a ,,Betriebsanleitung" ? i've got one of those too ...

Posted by: Gustl Oct 21 2005, 11:07 AM

I'd pay a little more for the 914-6 edition from this one
(unfortunately I even don't know if it exists, though ... )

I'm guessing $30-$50. Best way to learn for sure is to put one on Ebay and see where it goes.

i'd say a lot more than that ...

how many original /6 are out there still and how many of those have a original owners manual in good condition?

it's just like the original toolkit. and those go for big $$$ ...

I bought mine off of ebay for $50. I saw them for sale a couple of weeks later for $35, brand new.
But one with some sort of documentation might be worth more.

keep in mind that there is a little difference

the original ones have the white spiral

the reprint version has the transparent spiral

unfortunately they have the same print number and there is no other visible mark on the reprint
the paper quality is a little different, too

in my opinion the original -6 manual is worth $50 in good condition - the reprint not

AFAIK Porsche is with you - you can order the 1971 914-6 manual (reprint) at your Porsche dealer (part# WKD462720)
unfortunately it's "only" the english version - the US-version (#4627.23) isn't available
in Germany they're asking about EUR 55 for one

also available:
WKD462110 - german 1970
WKD462710 - german 1971
WKD463210 - german 1972
WKD462130 - french 1970
WKD462730 - french 1971
WKD463230 - french 1972

Didn't know about the original vs reprint difference !
Evidently both of mine are originals since they have the white spiral.

Ed, are either for sale?

Gustl, could you list the print #'s and edition #'s of the books you have. I'm trying to make a literature list as well.

I have seen some rather poor copies of these manuals recently. At our local event all the manuals were copies.

Posted by: propricer Oct 22 2005, 11:36 AM

Sorry, davep, not for sale ... I've only had 6 original 6's and my lucky number is 7 so I'll hold them for an orange six - someday, the good lord willin and a lucky lotto ticket !

I have a 914-6, white spiral, 4621.20; 500 VI/70; Edition XI/69 in good condition other than what looks like a "dog bite" out of the cover and first 6 pages. None of the text is damage by the holes. I will sell it for $20 plus postage.

Hey, anyone seen an English-language owner's manual for the 1974 European-spec 914s? I have one, and it's a little odd in places.... To my US-spec-accustomed eyes, at least.

I was going to make a PDF, but the repository for the PDF files sorta went away on us...

Gustl,

I have two of them, one has US order # 42-60-3175-1 and does not say USA/Canada, and the other has US order # 42-60-3176-1 and does say USA/Canada.

I have a 1974 book for Canada, and two 1975 books, one for USA, one for Canada.

The Canada books have French titles on the cover along with the English, and have Canada order numbers on the first page along with the xxxx.24 designation.

The Maintenance Record books have xxxx.22 for Canada but xxxx.23 for USA

thanks for that info Dave

I didn't know about these canadian manuals
I only have a canadian sales sheet / specifications sheet

now I know what to hunt next laugh.gif
