pretty cheap ~30 shipped with bulbs.
any good? worth trying?

I used those on my last car and they worked fine. The only thing I find an advantage is that I didn't have to through away the whole thing when I replaced the bulb.

Since I didn't have to replace the whole sealed beam assembly, I would just take off the headlight skin to get to the back when it came time to change bulbs.

plenty bright?

It doesn't really add any brightness, unless you switch to the newer bulbs like the xenon blue bulbs or the higher wattage units.

I think you would benefit more on using a higher wattage low beam.
