914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Ignition Switch Removal from 75

Posted by: Matt Meyer Nov 5 2005, 09:34 PM

I was following the bird boards tech article on ignition switch removal. I got down to where I need to remove two screws... But on my 75 it is all one cast piece. What do I do next.

My steering column:

there's a pin on the bottom of the column you have to tap out or something.

I don't know. complete guess. all i know is that there is a pin.

A: on the underside of the steering column housing is a 5mm (6mm?) allen head screw. Remove it. Pull the electrical connectors off the back.

B: Remove this clip

C: No need to remove this clip.

The whole aluminum assembly should now slide off the steering column

D: Separate the plastic cover from the assembly, and remove a small screw at the back of the ignition switch area. The switch should slide out.

NOTE: Use a genuine Porsche part ($40) instead of the $12 aftermarket part.
