914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Possible Race Car Exhaust with pipes

Posted by: john rogers Nov 10 2005, 01:02 PM

I'm getting as bad as Mueller possibly, but I think a wild set of pipes would be individual pipes right out the side like a top fuel dragster. They would sure throw some flame since most race engines run pretty rich! I searched and Googled and all but never found a picture of any?

my buddy bob, who owns the radio flyer red wagon hot rod uses sleved baffles in each of the exhaust pipes.

they don't seem like much but make a big difference than straight hollow pipes.

i say go for it!

take video. at night. biggrin.gif

Yup,

And they will run pretty good in about a 1000 RPM range.....

The pipe length is tuned for one rpm band in a dragster because you just basically rev it up into the high torque range and pop the clutch.....

Not a whole lotta accelerator pedal action needed other than push it down flat for drag racing...

Older sports racers (Chaparral 2) and F-1 cars (BRM) used individual exhaust stacks for a while, but they all went to tuned headers and collectors for more flexibility. But they look cool! aktion035.gif
