914World.com _ 914World Garage _ question2: 6-cylinder fuel flow direction

Posted by: siverson Aug 17 2003, 02:26 AM

Quick question, that I think is easy to answer. Which direction does the fuel flow on a 964/993 engine. Is it:

a) gas tank -> fuel pump -> fuel pressure regulator -> engine -> gas tank

OR

cool.gif gas tank-> fuel pump -> engine -> fuel pressure regulator -> gas tank

(i.e. is the fuel pressure regular on the input fuel line or output fuel line?)

Thanks - I'm just reassembling my car after 3 or so years and forgot some "details".

Thanks,
Steve

Fuel pressure is on the back side. Just like the 4cyl cars.

They bleed off the amount you dont need thru the return line.

Pics... give us pics. You have always done a good job documenting everything.

i would design your own set up. like a 5-10 micron filter before the pump. then a nice easy to get to racor filter 2 micron or so. regulate the pressure at the heads with a pressure dampner and a cool can from the birdy boys. then return it to the tank.

new cars are going to a returnless system to keep the returning fuel from heating up the fuel in the tank. compliments of the emmision natzis. my truck has it and it SUCKS because i get air in the fuel. porsche is doing it on the new models.
