Just back from a week in Adelaide competing in the Classic Adelaide event.
www.classicadelaide.com.au
We went pretty well. After Prologue to seed the starting order we were 35th, and at the end of day 4 had moved to 16th in the classic division. Only a coulple of minor probs which were fixed in the evening service. Gary read the pace notes well and I had no blond moments.
Some pics.

thanks for sharing Howard...is that a speed bump or berm on the 1st picture???

I think I will have to scan the photos in a higher resolution. Its a bit of kerb on the old GP circuit. You are supposed to drive around it, but it was quicker going over.
got a high res picture of you getting air????
I can do one. Any size you like.
1600x1200 would work....thanks...

That pic would make a great calender pic, also any one of them would make a great shot for the forum

Great pics!
I 'm just trying to figure out how the photographer could stay in front of the car for all of those different shots....
Must have be really tired if he was running to keep up with the car....
Ken
cool pix!
and looks like a ton of fun
There were a number of photographers around the course.
I have some video of 5 or 6 stages on Sunday. I just have to get it off the camera and onto the laptop. Maybe tonight. Then I will need some help to get it into cyberspace.
Heh,heh, I was gonna complain thet the picture quality wasn't as good as last year
Thanks, Howard. I'll be lookin' forward to seeing more next year....or more from this year, for that matter.

Nice driving!

Wow! Fantastic shots.
That air shot is the best
KT
I have replaced them with higher resolution photos. They are now in stage order and the rest follow. The air photo is at the end.

I think that's up to the usual standard now JP.

nice club sticker on the rear window.
looks like fun howard.
whats it cost to run an event like this?
Not trying to hijack, but this is what I mean by bringing the concept of speed into a still pic. this:

Hey Howard - how about an airborne 911CS from the same race?
Damn! Now I have to decide which wallpaper to use!

Video is coming. I have the first 5 stages from last Sunday. I got them off the camera yesterday. The files seem a bit big. Montacute is for example 150mb. Do you have someplace I can upload them to. Maybe you can mess with the size.
"Windows Media Encoder" will allow you to shrink the file size to about 10% of original with some quality loss.

Andy,
I have fixed the video files and am ready to go when you are. The 150mb file came down to 20 without much loss of quality. The others range from 8 - 12 mb. Thanks Trekkor.
Grasshopper, I think I prefer colour.
Carreraguy, the name says it all. So many tail draggers in the event, they were like belly buttons. Check this out

Howard
Your car is my desktop at work. People see it and ask "Is that your car?" All I can say is "I wish".
The black and white is timeless. It could be 35 years ago.
Dave
Howard,
It looks like your VIN on the '71 914/6 is for a '70.
Really nice pics btw!
Olav,
The best I can determine is that it was built in October 70 for the 71 model year.
Here's two them. I have 3 more which I will upload when i'm back home tomorrow.

Hey Howard, let's make it look 25 years older! I tweeked Barry's version a bit.

Thanks Howard; great clips! Love the sound of that engine! Is that a stock 914 sixer? Sounds bigger.
We have some roads in the South SF Bay area that look really similar to the mountain run. You Aussies don't know how lucky you are; there's no way we could ever pull off a rally like that over here - too many laws, cops, insurance hassles, tree huggers, yada yada yada...
amazing, great sounding engine!!!! looks like a lot of fun!!
the steering wheel is on the wrong side great driving!!
The only way events like this can be run is with government support.
It's a tweaked 2.7 twin plug.
The picture breaks up bit when it hits the limiter. I must have had a blond moment in the rush before we left because I set the shift light at 7300 and the limiter at 7300 as well. I meant to set the shift light at 7100, so I spent a fair bit of time hitting the limiter. The green light you see come on from time to time is the downshift light which comes on at 4750 and goes off above. It helps to avoid a buzz on a downshift.
Great stuff, Howard. Those trees look ..ah..intimidating.
You certainly treat the scenery with respect. Here's 3 more that I didn't have time to get up before I went away for a couple of days.

On Montacute it is a genuine GT40 that passes us.
posted some more video.
