914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Wheel fitment question?

Posted by: ChicagoChris Nov 23 2005, 06:39 PM

I have a '72 that I will have a 5-bolt on shortly. I want to know if any of the "phone dial" type wheels will work under stock fenders?

I know that they made 15" and 16". But what backspace are those wheels? Are they 6 or 7 wide?

Thank you,
Chris

'86 and earlier will work. The later wheels can be made to work, but you would need spacers.

7x15 is a good size.

Phone dials came in a bunch of different choices.

Not all the combinations, but there are 6", 7", and 8",
15" and 16" diameter, and offsets of 23.3, 52.3, or 65mm.

When you look at the back of them they will say ET23
or whatever.

The 7x15 ET23.3 are the same offset as Fuchs 7x15.
A lot of people have banged out their fenders in the back
to make these fit.

I ran the 16x7 Phonedials with a 23mm offset on all four corners with 205/50 tires, just had to pull the rear fenders a little bit, think I did by hand...the lip will have to be rolled up, but not a big deal.......

mine came off an '86 944 turbo (4 fronts)

the 8's will not fit without major work....
