914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rust Proofer in Aerosol

Posted by: vesnyder Nov 26 2005, 07:24 AM

Anybody used an aerosol rust proofer that worked?? I sure would like something like a POR-15 in a spay can! I am a big fan of POR-15, but if I could find something in an aerosol that worked almost as good I would give it a try. POR-15 is good stuff but given the area I neeed to cover and the setup time of POR-15 (taking from the can. putting into another container, etc ...) I can save myself a ton of time and mess by using an aerosol. I tried the stuff from the auto parts store and it does not cut it - it was old and I will give a new can another try. ANYBODY??

If you are not covering a real large surface area...you can get spray guns from Por-15. They are 7 bucks a unit and will paint 16oz of stuff.

Hammerite Rust Cap is great. Spraycans at Home Depot.

I like the eastwood stuff. Used theirs many times, current battery tray has their corroless(sp?) last painted over 5 years ago. Looks great

I think Eric Shea has had good luck with Zero Rust, I keep meaning to try it.

I've used http://www.zerorust.com/ and really like how it goes on. But I can't attest to how well it does it's main function since my car isn't roadworthy. Actually it's barely garage-worthy either according to the wife.

I've perchased Zero Rust on a spray can. I haven't used it yet but the Comapny was easy to deal with and the write up on the web site oloed very good. Cheaper than the others as well.

I like Zero-Rust a lot. It's tough (resists chips etc.) and it's much easier than POR-15 for suspension and other goodies. It has a nice matte finish. I only spray it on bare metal. They also recently lowered the price.

I still like POR-15 but this seems to be equal if not better and easier for parts. I was thinking about using the POR-15 Brite-White for my engine compartment and trunks.

I used Rust Stop on my bare metal. Its a reddish brown primer looking stuff that was reccomended by a 356 guy. He said it works really well on bare metal.
