2.0 D Jet, new engine. it ran fine yesterday. I changed the points with a compufire. the idle smoothed out nicely. I touched something wrong because now it hesitates past 1/2 throttle under load. below 1/2 throttle its nice. on teh fwy its fine WTF.gif

vacuum to the MPC? or perhaps another vacuum leak? MPC adjusts the fuel pulse for load.

BTW that is a beautiful engine.

Don't know about the hesitation problem but where is your alternator cover?

Are your dizzy weights sticking? One drop of 30 wt on the center felt per year is what Haynes says to do...

Re-check the timing, 28-32degrees BTDC @3500rpms

Both advance and retard hoses still on?

yes Joe
thats a cheap shot, I need that knee cap

It sounds like a leak in the MPS or one of the hoses leading to it.

I would try checking there first. You may have inadvertently bumped a hose loose.

Is it running excessively rich or lean? Or is it just hesitating?

I had one once that wouldn't pull past 3500 RPMs to find that the coil had shot craps.

Good luck.
