Posted by: joea9146 Dec 4 2005, 07:16 PM

Anyone running 993 or 996 wheels on a flared 914
looking at 17 x 7 offset 7-55 and 17 x 9 offset 9-55.

Not sure what size spacers I would need to maker these work .
looking for someone that has done this ?

17x7 front 17x9 in the back 993's 1.5" spacers all around but probably could go with 2" in back. Front fenders are pulled a little and I had to trim the front lip so I could steer.

Edit: The tires are 225/40 front and the back are 255/35 Bridgestone SO-3. Just the perfect tires for these wheels. I don't think all 255's will work but my tires have the bead pretty far in towards the center of the tire.

I have the same wheels which I intend to run on my recently started f'glass flared car. I did a trial fit of the rears (255-40-17) and find I'll have to trim the inside lip. Without hijacking this thread, can someone with this combination tell me how far they timmed the lip (or how much lip is remaining)?

Thanks,
Andys

I have steel flares on the RS and I had the lip completely folded. However, I have plenty of room and probably didn't need to do this, but at the time, I wasn't sure and didn't want to take a chance.
