914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Leaky Brake Master cylinder

Posted by: adammtb Dec 18 2005, 10:22 PM

So...we thought we were done and then noticed the very rusty brake master cylinder. Upon inspection the little rubber grommets? at the top of the cylinder (where the fluid tubes come in from the resevoir) are cracked and the source of the leak.

Can you replace just these stupid little rubber things or are they integrated into the cylinder and the whole assembly needs replacement?

Help...Christmas is coming soon.

If you buy a rebuild kit they come with it. But they are a major PITA to replace. If those are worn out so are the seals inside the MC. Buy a new MC. Almost as much work to replace the whole MC than it is to replace the grommets.

Is it sketchy to use NOS parts or is this a good deal?
