If I have a brake rotor that is 12.5 In. in Dia. how big of rim Dia. will I need to run. Or how far past the disc does the caliper stick out? I am figureing if I ran a 16" rim I would have about 1.75" all the way around the disc. Is that enough clearance for the caliper or do I need to go to a 17" wheel?
maybe
depends on what caliper you use. The more pistons, usually the larger they are and the larger the rim you need to clear. Also depends on the type and construction of the rims you plan on using.
Guess I should have put this up here also. These are the discs I plan to run. It is 12.5 Dia. for the fronts. Just gotta figure out a caliper for it. The price was right also THANKS Kyan

uhh... those dont mount to 911 front hubs very well
so I got swap meet fodder. I will just hold off untill I come out to get the front end from SLITS and go from there. Im coming out with my 12 y.o. little girl over spring break and pick it up and she wants to see Hollywood She has been after me to take her on a trip since I have done trips with the boys. We will have to see who all is doing what and maybe do a lunch or dinner then.
Hollywood, Riverside, it's all the same thing.
Take her to Temecula (wine country ) and be sure to see Lake Elsinore!
John
P.S. We were just there over the weekend, Beauteeeeefulll!

they are not supposed to bolt onto the hubs like the post-'89 911's.... for the '89 964 and later 993s, Porsche went to a one piece rotor and hat those slide over the studs similar to the rear 914 stock setup. |
I had a guy on the bird board send me the best breakdown on this Ill post it when I get home from work as a new thread so it can be archived.

but he bought a 911 front end...(almost deifinitely a pre 89 setup) |
I have 993 front calipers on my 911, and 965 rear calipers on it. I use 944T front rotors, and 930 Turbo rear rotors. Talk about a mishmash of parts 16 wheels fit over the assembly
The 944T rotor is smaller in Dia then the 993 Rotor. I got the VCI mounts like Chris posted. Im almost positive with 993 rotor/caliper fits under a 16 in wheel
Aaron this is how I was thinking of making this work. Do you know any reason why these wouldnt work like this?
