My speedometer works fine but the mileage doesnt change. The odometer part just doesnt turn over. Can I buy a rebuilt speedometer or is there any easy fix?
is your trip meter stuck too? you may have encountered a common problem. there is a pelican tech article on the subject http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mult_gauge_repair/mult_gauge_repair.htm, amidst discussion of repairing/refurbishing other gauges.
i have done the odometer repair, it's not that difficult. one of the things that causes the odometer to stop working (i've heard) is zeroing out the trip meter with the odometer "in motion." that is, when the car is moving.

Easy fix go to PP tech article on this very subject.
The Pleican Parts article looks like it would really be opening a can of worms. Has anybody tried that with success?
Open the can. If you can't get it closed again, used speedos are plentiful. I suspect Camp 914 here in Portland has a large supply.
It's really simple. At least for a dunder head like me. Hardest part was getting the the speedo cable loose to begine with. Who ever was in there before me got it really tight.
Really piece of cake or send it to me I'll do it and send it back same day.

when I had the problem it turned out to be the right angle fitting at the transmission. it had disintegrated inside. that and a new cable, while I was in there, did the trick.
