914World.com _ 914World Garage _ 914 Skin for GT Legends

Posted by: seanery Dec 21 2005, 10:01 PM

Here's my first attempt at a skin for a game. I found a template and just played with colors, stickers, etc...This is what I'm driving right now on GT Legends.

Nice!
What's "moronpedal.com"?

Posted by: TimT Dec 21 2005, 10:07 PM

can you make the running surface more realistic? put some tire snots outside and inside the line. And make a bald spot at the apex.. also a bit of litter here and there would be appropo

Posted by: seanery Dec 21 2005, 10:07 PM

that's a screen grab from a replay. All rendered real time.

Tim,
The racing surface actually looks decent, my angle and the glare of the sun have obscured it a bit...no marbles, though, blut plenty of oil on it.

Posted by: Jeroen Dec 21 2005, 10:14 PM

well done!!!! clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif

doesn't GT Legends come with a 914/6 GT ?
I'm pretty sure I saw a demo with one in it...

Posted by: seanery Dec 21 2005, 10:21 PM

yes, this is it. Before I reskinned it, it was the factory orange. Nice looking, but I wanted to make it more personal. The inside is still a bit orange, but I hope to figure out how to make it match the exterior.

Posted by: Jeroen Dec 21 2005, 10:28 PM

ha... I looked again :cleaning-glasses-smiley: and spotted the fender flares
at first glance the pic looks like a stock/narrowbody

still... very cool job!

Posted by: Eddie Williams Dec 21 2005, 10:37 PM

Are you running the demo? The web site says it won't be released till February.

Posted by: trekkor Dec 21 2005, 11:32 PM

I want to play boldblue.gif

I d/l games to get a good demo... if I like 'em I buy, but GTL beat me... I'll have to buy from Europe

Wayne,
there are separate S/Ns for the disk and the multiplayer mode. Every time the game starts it checks the DVD - takes about 15 seconds. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I think the disks may be serialized - or at least have a huge list of approved S/Ns buried on it somewhere. confused24.gif

yep... the "fix" to get around it involves(short version):

mount the .iso using Daemon tools or alcohol120%, edit your registry, start an xp background process, disable the dvd node, unplug the cd-roms IDE-cable, run a hack program that patches xp temporarily to ignore starforce validations...

hence: they win! that is too much trouble to save shipping from UK...

but yea, the S/N you get on the box has to match the specific DVD... screwy.gif

the last game that "won" was HL2... their SOURCE network attachment was impossible to get around, too

Dave,
This is a PC game, I've got a P4 2.8 with a gig of ram and an ATI 9700 Pro video card with 128 megs ram, it plays ok, but I really need a 256 meg video card.

Blitz,
I'm using an older Logitech Wingman Formula Force steering wheel. The current version of this retails at $65, but I bet you can find it cheaper on Ebay or something. Used isn't necessarily a good bet because there are bearings and play can become an issue. Logitech has a really nice new one called Momo Racing...it's real slick ~$100.

I've been playing the demo on my p4 2.0, gig-o-rama and a 128 mb. It plays fine. However, with more video memory, you could probaly turn up the eye candy settings.

I'm excited now! I've figured out not only how to skin an existing car, but create more unique cars (based on their existing models). The game comes with 1 914, which is cool, but not enough. I've now added 3 more! Here are a couple screen grabs of my current progress.

914s now include:
14 - CFR - Chris Foley Racing
370 - Factory GT
632 - MoronPedal.com
922 - MoronPedal / 914World.com

Posted by: seanery Dec 23 2005, 09:00 PM

I don't see how people drive harder games like this one, GPLegends, etc...without a wheel! It's gotta be hard!

Oh, when you guys start getting the game I can give you the cars I've been working on and show you how to add them and others to your game! driving.gif

That would be cool...do you just re-skin the existing other cars or are they complete with 914 physics? I've done some skins for another game using photoshop...seems I needed to add a plug-in for a foreign format....what format are the GTL skins?

Posted by: seanery Dec 23 2005, 11:18 PM

dds skins
cars are made via a .car file

cars are additional 914s added to the game, so the physics are 914 correct biggrin.gif driving.gif

it's not "officially" released yet in the US but you can find the English version on gogamer.com .......either from their website or on eBay. I ordered from them on eBay and got the game in 3 days...

Posted by: campbellcj Dec 26 2005, 02:51 PM

This is way cool!

When I first heard about this game, I figured it would be my excuse to get a new 'puter or upgrade this one. Now I'm basically convinced!

Will the PS2/GT4 Logitech wheel work with a PC as well? It is a really nice setup and is USB driven so it seems like it sure could lash up to a PC if there is driver support.

Posted by: seanery Dec 26 2005, 03:29 PM

Chris, I've done it the other way. I've used a Logitech Momo Force on GT3. It worked great. It might be worth a try going the other way.

Posted by: seanery Dec 26 2005, 03:30 PM

Wayne,
If you go to the Best Buy site and buy the Logitech Momo wheel (sweet wheel) then option to pick it up at the store, they have to honor any price you find on-line, Tiger-direct has it for $74.99. Take in the tiger-direct ad when you pick it up and they will sell it for that price. BB is asking $103 for the same wheel. Or order direct from T-D and wait. This way you get it NOW...you must have it NOW!!! biggrin.gif

Search the BB site for price matching and read the policy! I would take a copy with you, just in case. Did your bud look at the 356? I'm about to pull the trigger on a 66 912. Sorry hijacked.gif

yep their website stattes:

Low price guarantee:
If your product is available at a lower price online or in the store at the time of pickup, your credit card and/or Gift Card will automatically be adjusted to reflect the lowest available price.

now, if I can find someplace selling it for like $10... biggrin.gif

lowest I found so far is http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=A44846&src=PG

yea, I can't get a 914 in the game yet, with a controller it was too hard to win the first races to get some dough...

for somereason, playing the cars in the demo didn't seem nearly as hard to control... the mini is a PITA with the gravis... I may give it more of a try before buying a wheel I'll only use in one game...

HAHA! I was test driving the BMW CSL and did cheerios and flatted the rear tires. It was hard to drive, and the rear end sank, as you can see in the pic.

Posted by: tat2dphreak Dec 29 2005, 01:22 PM

is it just me(or a flaw in the gamepad play) or do you HAVE to feather the throttle to make a turn? car won't hardly turn if NO gas is being applied... least amount of gas, turns fine...

Posted by: seanery Dec 29 2005, 01:36 PM

It depends on the engine speed and the car speed and the radius of the turn, it actually feels fairly realistic compared to driving on the track.

New car! The PinkPig teener style!

That is awesome! Fantastic job!

A number of years ago PCA-GGR had four 914s painted like the famous 917/962 racecars:

* Pink Pig (Brian Perry, Todd Harter),
* Sunoco (Larry Sharp),
* Yagermeister (Bobby Crookshank), and
* Gulf (Greg Braun)

In the late 90's, I used the pic for the Halloween homepage on the PCA-GGR website as "914s in full costume". I'm looking for it and will post it when I find it.

I ordered GT Legends a couple days ago and can't wait for it to arrive! driving.gif

It was really cool when we had the pink pig, jagermeister, sunoco and gulf 914s on the track at the same time!

Maybe we can "recreate the moment" on GT Legends!

What resolution and colors are you using in the game?

Posted by: seanery Jan 1 2006, 12:14 AM

1920x1200. I can make it look MUCH better if I run a lower res like 1600x1200, but it plays pretty well at this one. If I make DirectX do 16x Antialiasing...it looks awesome - The pinkpig pics are with almost everything maxed out.

nothing too special.
Early P4 2.8 (non hyperthreaded)

damn, my sempron 2200, 9800 pro(128mb), 512 dual channell DDR system can't cut it at 1440x900 with more than 4xAA...

yeah, i'm just thinking, it might look for the grey areas in the skin part to see where to apply the alpha channel ...

it looks like whatever gradient is used in the alpha channel is also used in the skin part (Parts Layer) ...

can't hurt to try.

Ever since Seanery started posting these screen shots, I've been thinking that I've got to get this game AND I've got to get a new PC to play it. The thought of an Alienware machine has been in the back of my mind, But, I've always viewed them as being very overpriced. Also, Tom's Hardware did a http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/10/12/the_battle_of_the_gaming_pc_titans/index.html and they were disappointed regarding the build quality.

Anyway, just for comparison I configured an http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/Aurora_ALX/alx_features.aspx?SysCode=PC-AURORA-ALX-R2&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT. I came up with a price of $5,383 with no monitor. I also priced out the components to build it myself. Same motherboard, processor, memory, video adapter, case, etc. The price of the components was less than $2,900. I think I'll build my own and buy a kick-ass monitor.

I wish I had the knowledge to skin these cars, but I don't.

I would like to request two skins:

1) modify #555, keep the red body, change front bumper and valence to black, remove numbers, remove sponsors. (This would be our track car without our gt tail)

2) modify #53, No Numbers, no stripes, black bumper tops, black top (This would be my current street car project)

I just tried the game at 1600x1200 32bbp and it looks amazing.

I like how you priced the cars so that they are affordable.

Thanks, and keep up the excellent work on this.

I am going to order the wheel though. Key control is just too frusterating.

Not all 256 meg cards are created equally. I did some research before I bought mine. I got an ATI 9800XT. While not the newest design, it offers 8 pixel pipelines and a 256 bit data path. I got mine on ebay for $139. ATI's X850XT is the killer AGP setup with 12 pixel pipelines, but the price is pretty steep. The lower end cards will only have 4 pixel pipelins and a 128 bit data path, which is pretty slow.

yep, read Tom's hardware guide before any upgrade choices... when I bought my 9800 it was still faster than many of the next generation cards because of the pipelines being opened...

myself, I'm not buying another AGP card, when I upgrade my pc, I'll go pci express, an SLi motherboard and an A64... I built a PC for a guy at work last year that was like this... A64 3500+, 1GB Ram, and a 6800 Ultra... he's about to buy the second 6800 for it biggrin.gif

So did mine. I haven't tried to connect to any servers yet but maybe I will tonight. I wanted to be able to stay on the track for at least 15 laps (at speed) before I tried to race someone else.

On another area of the simulator. I was playing with it the other night and was having a lot of fun and every thing was going great. Two nights later I tried it and found that I was almost getting sick because of the graphics. I was on the same track, different 914 car (Thanks Sean!) but now that I think about it I did change the resolution. I will have to change it back and see if that helps. I don't think it was a color combo. Has anyone else had this type of problem? There is a warning about this type of thing happening in their doc.

I set up server called 914 Club.  The IP address is  66.23.201.146.  Let me know if you can see it.

Just wanted to say that I was on your server tonight. Didn't have a problem connecting. I am not qualified as a semi-pro though! ohmy.gif

Thanks, good to know it's working. Now to determine how to configure it. Think it is currently in practice mode.

I just got my new wheel and pedals from best buy using the price matching method described earlier in this thread. Paid $57 instead of $103 that best buy wanted - what a great way to get stuff cheap!
Ordered the game from gogamer on Tuesday with standard shipping and it showed up Thursday. Just need a usb extension cable and I can waste even more time on the ol PC instead of working in the garage beer.gif

Posted by: seanery Jan 7 2006, 08:10 PM

I built it. I'll add it to 914 Set #2. I've only got a couple for that set so far though.

Sorry John,
I missed this response somehow.

At least you're getting to learn how it's done, though, right?

Posted by: JOHNMAN Jan 7 2006, 11:11 PM

Well yes I am, and you have done a heck of a job helping me. A thousand thanks for your help so far, and I hope to be able to learn how you did the short movies and the icons in the very near future.

PS, I have the DDS plugin working now after modifying the settings.

(I did my track car (red) and my street car (silver). Both without numbers)

I wonder if there is a way to modify the steering wheels to match mine........ idea.gif

These cars are a whole lot easier to work on than the real ones, they don't rust or leak oil either.

Posted by: Vacca Rabite Jan 7 2006, 11:19 PM

Well, I got my wheel yesterday, and it made a huge difference on how I wasdoing in the game. Now I am geting tired of the demo. I suppose I am going to have to go to and get the english version instead of waiting for the US release.

Okay, I am going to go play some more. smilie_pokal.gif

finger.gif Well, the Logitec Momo wheel is going back to Amazon tomorrow. finger.gif

Used it for 1 day, then did not touch it for 1 1/2 days. After work today, nothing. No lights, not picking up via USB, nada, zip, zero. Tried all the usual tricks. Tested the USB ports with known good devices (USB ports all worked fine), tried resetting all the cables, tried restarting the machine, went to the logitec support page and tried a bunch of stuff from there.

The power, when plugged in and sitting for a few moments makes a high pitched whine. I am guessing the thing burned itself out. I'll have Amazon send a replacement, and see what happens.

When I first installed the game, I had issues with the cars that I installed. I had tried to test drive a 904 and every time I would go to race, I was stuck back in the 904.

I ended up creating a new player and deleting the old player and all was well. I guess the player data somehow got corrupt. It worked for me.

Of course I will make new videos featuring your amazing skins ... Stay tuned.

Actually I enjoy the 914 as-is. I love having a Corvette or Pantera pass me on the strait only to out-brake the pig into the next curve and run away on the exit. I've found that car set-up is very critical to running a competitive 914....get the gearing right...watch tire temps and fiddle with camber settings...the right toe-in helps turn-in...sway bar sizes for good balance...diff settings for traction vs "pushing"....just the right brake balance allows you to toss the car into the apex with a little stab on the pedal going in. The best track I've found for 914's with my set-ups so far is Hockenheim....I could race there all day driving.gif

Posted by: mikelsr Jan 14 2006, 11:50 AM

I am also having problems with Sean's cars. When I first put them on the system they worked and I was having fun. The next time I tried them (test drive from a dealer) after doing some practice laps in other cars and then an online practice session the application just died when I tried to use one of Sean's cars.

I removed them and didn't have a problem running the original. I am going to replace them one by one to see what is going on and yes I have version 1.1.

Well, I got the replacement wheel from Amazon over the weekend. I was camping, so I did not get to see it till I got home late monday evening.

Man, the difference is night and day.
First off, it works. Thats a plus.
When the first wheel was working, the force feedback was very weak, this one is much stronger. It has engine vibrations! I did a couple laps with it around the demo track before realizing that I was so tired I was about to collapse. The difference between the new wheel and the old one is night and day, and I like the old one while it was working for the day it was working.

I can't wait for the US release 2 weeks from now.

Anyone out there know if a no DVD hack is out for this game, I bought it and hate needing to have a DVD drive on my PC just to run a game. I made a very quiet PC (it's silent) for recording LP's and general music and photo tasks and I never intended to have any permenent drives mounted.

Also my integrated video (nvidia 6150) can't quite handle the game - what is better for this game ATI or Nvidia? I know that I will have to mod anything I might get to make it quiet.

Does anyone know how to fix the wimpy engine sounds the 914 makes? The RSR is much better sounding.

Yep - latest drivers. The game is OK I just can't get the eye candy cranked up and keep a nice frame rate. It looks OK but plays poorly - just like GPL does when the framerate is to low, makes it really hard to drive smooth.
What settings are you using. I would really prefer not to add a power eating heat and noise making video card to my silent system.

nope, there's a way around it, but it's more of a pain than using the dvd... the hack involves editing the registry, running a hack called starfuck and unplugging your ide cable to your cd-roms after mounting the dvd's image(which you have to make) using a program like alcohol 120% or DaemonTools...

I finally got to play on your server blitz. It turns out Windows Firewall wasn't really the problem. It was Norton's Internet Worm utility (part of Antivirus 2005). Right now I've got them both shut off. I'm gonna turn 1 on and see if I can get it to still work.

I ran 3 or 4 laps in an RSR and it played smooth - granted, no one else was on so it should laugh.gif

Can you install my carsets? If we get 914 guys playing there it'd be nice if we weren't all driving the same car.

Also, I plan on releasing all of the factory colors, too, so folks can drive a reasonable facsimilie of their car.

The screenshots of Nordschliefe look very cool. I can't wait until I build my new system and get my copy of GTL.

Quick question for those with the game. Is anyone running GTL on a wide-screen monitor? If so, what resolution are you using? Also, any specs on your video card & monitor setup would be appreciated.

I am. I have an HP 24" widescreen. I was running 1920x1200, but switched a week or so ago to 1600x1050. I see no loss in quality and I get a couple more frames per second. I'm using an ATI 9800pro AGP. The card will do 8x AGP, but my mobo only supports 4x. If I were building a system I'd get an ATI X850 or X1800 512meg PCI Express.

The specs are pretty good (20 pixelpipelines, 445MHz - can be overclocked, etc.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130238

Now, here's the kicker that caught my attention. If you buy the card, they will include a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188002 for free. Now, I know that this isn't necessarily the best MB out there, but the price for a video adapter & motherboard is very appealing. I figure that this can get me up and running now with a decent video adapter and then I can replace the MB later.

Any thoughts?

Posted by: seanery Jan 24 2006, 09:35 AM

It looks like the 7800 series is Nvidia's top of the line and the GT is the entry level into the 7800 series. The specs seem good, and the price isn't bad - especially since it's got a mobo with it.

what's your current mobo? unless it's from the past year, it won't have PCI express... and if you currently have a PCI express card, you can probably run the game fine

7800 is the badass of nvidia... top-line

also, with the mobo that comes with it, you need to make sure you have a 939-pin A64 chip too...

Don't worry about my current mobo, that's going in the trash. smile.gif Although, I will have an extra Nvidia FX-5200 AGP if anybody wants it.

I was thinking about a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103502. I can't seeing paying for an FX or Dual Core processor just to play a game.

My thought process was to go with the free mobo for now. I has everythng that I currently need including PCI Express x16. And, If I find that it doesn't suit my needs, I'll upgrade to a different mobo later.

evga video cards are really good, I'm sure the mobos are fine too... I've used ECS several times, and they are fine, too.

Don't get that chip - it's a very old revision (look at the part number - ADA3200BIBOX - the BI portion is the rev or stepping number D0 they are up to E6 (runs cooler and has several fixes) What you want is something like this E6: ADA3000BWBOX

But it happens that just 4 days after my full copy of GT Legends came in, Erin and I descided to order a new compy. It should get here today.

Oh, and after a few hours of playing the full version... Man, I SUCK at driving everything but the Mini. I can win the Mini Cup races on Amature level, and place them at Semi-Pro, but am having difficulty with the Dorift-O King races at Novice (or whatever the second level is). Also have not installed Civ IV yet, for the same reason. I was going to wait to install GTL unitl the new machine arrived, but I could not wait to play it after playing with the demo for over a month.

I need some help setting up the 914.
I need suggestions for front and rear toe, spring rates, torsion bar size, brake bias, tire pressures etc...

I keep losing it in the turns, under and oversteer.

Or does someone have a setup file I can download

thanks

Tommy

Posted by: seanery Feb 20 2006, 09:41 PM

I can't help you too much, about the only thing I do is make the front bias about 60% and take the fuel down to exactly the number of laps I'll be running or maybe +1.

Search the "online" setups. There are some VERY good setups there.

Big change comes into the power things..

but search the online setups for the more popular tracks and download them, if you dont like it, delete it..

Some of them have ratings...

logitech wingman formula force here, quite a bit cheaper than the momo.

Don't buy any cheap wheel if you want to have fun with the game.

I'm using the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel.
Works good, but doesn't seem to keep me from running off the course.

I getting good at racing in the runoff area.

I did get about an hour or so to just race the other day so I sold one of my cars and bought a 914 and started playing with the settings. I finally have something going that I can keep on the course (for the most part). The longer I played the better I got (still have a long way to go). This game is addicting. I am trying to get my son interested in it but he doesn't care much for cars. sad.gif

When you run the races on the private servers what level are you running them (novice, expert, etc.)?

A few questions;

1) Does the game come on DVD or CD?

2) Does the game require you to have the DVD or CD in the drive when playing?

3) Which steering wheel do you use and do you like it?

Thanks much, hope to see you online soon.

Allright Sean... I need some help. I was trying to design my 914 as I am intending to paint it. But when I load the car into GTL it has this funky orange overspray. Particualrly on the sail panels, chrome windshiled trim and banner. What am I doing wrong?

Also, how do you change the car icon and car name at the dealer? I copied my DDS files into a copy of one of your folders. Now I have car 80 showing up twice, instead of car 75 and car 80 showing up.

I was usign the tutorial found here :http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=229800 but it seems like it skipped some steps.

make sure that the car number inside the .car file matches the file names of the car you're doing.
Open up one of the ones I did and scroll to the bottom to see that info.

The icons are the two .tga files in the car's folder, one is b/w for when you don't own it, the other is color when you do.
The animated movie for each car is the .bik file.

If you send me your files I can probably tell you exactly what is wrong or missing. sean at moronthrottle

also, be sure to give your driver a unique name.

I am running Windows XP home Edition. I have the "firewall" feature turned on which blocks certain (not sure what) activity. When I first connected to the online server, it kept reloading the maps about every 30 seconds. When I exited GT legends, a Firewall warning window had popped up, telling me GT legends was trying to do something and asking if I wanted to allow it. I just answered "yes" and everything was cool.

You could also go to /Control Panel/ Security Center/Windows Firewall/ Exceptions and add GT lengends there.

Laggy ? you mean the framerate is too low ? Or the feeling with the wheel ?

The setup of the wheel is very important. I made a lot of tries and found out a setup that gives me a good feeling and precision.

If you have a MOMO, select the momo RACING setup and not the momo FORCE.

It might be your PC setup. I had the same problem when I first started playing and invested in a better video card. Update your video driver. Make sure you have nothing running while playing, email client, etc. Sucks getting an email while playing resulting in frame rate lag, next thing you know your're off the track.

Practice is crucial, learn the tracks. It's frustrating at first, hang in there.

Posted by: johannes Feb 25 2006, 08:34 AM

First rule ! ... Do not expect to drive fast and have fun if your framerate is under 30 F/s !!!

In the game go to video menu set all graphic details to low. Note the framerate in a spécific situation .... ctrl or Shift + F (can't remember)

Then close the game ...

Before launching the game again, lauch the setup utility.
Reduce in game screen resolution to 800 X 600 and remove the AA (anti aliasing )

If you mesure a great improvement in framerate , this means that changing for a faster video card will help.

I had a "SE" video card ... a Radeon 9200 SE ... I had VERY LOW frame rate even with the game graphic details set to low def.
I bought a Radeon 9600 Pro for 90$ and it improved the framerate by 50% ... Still have to set the graphic details to quite low when more than 5 cars are on the track ...

Nice graphics is fun but better have 30 fps and have fun with driving, than nice graphics and a car you can't handle ....

Posted by: blitZ Feb 26 2006, 08:15 PM

There is a online racing forum in the future events section.

Well, my car is still a work in progress, but here is how it was looking before I descided I needed to go to bed for work tomorrow.

There are a few meddling things that are confusing me. I tried to delete the windshield banner, and paint it as an alpha channel , but that obviously hasnot been done right quite yet - its just grey.

I also tried to delete the filler cap, but for some reason its still in the game model.

And the passinger side head lamp has part of the black bar from the drivers side. Not sure what is going on there...

This is pretty much how I am planning on painting my car once it is ready.

Zach,
after seeing the pic of your skin I can help you a bit.

1. the pass side headlight cover is a mirror image of the driver side...no way to get around it (the sail panels are the same way)
2. Your alpha channel is missing. Make sure you save the window file as a dds type 5 with alpha. The body 2 and windows use dds type 5 as well as the inside banner and one of the interior files I sent you.

Zach,
after seeing the pic of your skin I can help you a bit.

1. the pass side headlight cover is a mirror image of the driver side...no way to get around it (the sail panels are the same way)
2. Your alpha channel is missing. Make sure you save the window file as a dds type 5 with alpha. The body 2 and windows use dds type 5 as well as the inside banner and one of the interior files I sent you.

huh, I was wondering about that. I think that I saved the window panels as 1 bit alpha, but that will be easy enough to go back and check.

I need to now actually get into on of the 914club races... :-)

You might want to pick up a wheel. I have a Logitech Momo, works pretty well. Now, if I can just learn to drive. dry.gif

Sean,
Have you ever tried to use the Gimp for skins? It doesn't support DDS (I think that is one of the file formats needed) directly but I thought I read that there is a plugin or a combo of programs that works to some degree for providing the DDS format. I don't have a late enough version of PS (I have v4 IIRC).

Hijack!

Is there some easy to use software for track design?

I have this idea to take my morning commute and turn it into a race track.

Posted by: seanery Apr 6 2006, 05:27 PM

Tommy,
I think all the tracks are created in 3d software like Max and Lightwave and then imported into software that makes and packages the track files...I know there is info in the GTL forum regarding add-on tracks. It seems to be LOTS of work. But it would be cool to do.

Posted by: blitZ Apr 6 2006, 07:38 PM

Making a track from scratch is a ton of work, could take months. Most of the tracks we are adding have been converted from other racing games.

I'm trying to find this game on Amazon.com and it lists 3 different ones ... which one do I want?

Posted by: seanery Apr 6 2006, 08:49 PM

you want the one that costs the least! laugh.gif

Check Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy....I've heard of $19.99 for it lately.

Anyone tried one of the new Nvidia cards (7600GS/GT or the 7900 series) with this game? My silent PC's 6150 integrated graphics aren't quite enough for it.

Posted by: tommy914 Apr 7 2006, 08:36 PM

I running it with a nvidea 6600 with no problems.

One of those should work fine, just get it with at least 256mb of memory.

Im curious if there is any way to make a track creator that would allow the making of autox tracks, given the dimensions...

That way people could place the cones in the creator from a top view of the course and load it on their game and race!

Maybe a big skidpad like NFS: PU

Got my copy at Fry's today. Gonna install it tonight and fire it up.

Took me forever to find this thread again ... can someone move it to the online racing forum?

Posted by: seanery Apr 14 2006, 07:35 AM

Willow Springs should be an option...someone created it for GP Legends, and folks are converting tracks all the time...

Thanks Dan
