The almighty turbocharger, the brainchild of Dr. Alfred Buchi of Switzerland, patented on Nov. 13, 1905. Where would our Porsches, and all of the other supercars be without this little bit of a power adder today. His first attempt with forced induction failed...proll'y due to incompetent metallurgy, but in 1919 GE hung one on a Liberty engine in a Bi-Plane--reaching 33,113 ' alt.
Doesn't the new Bugatti Veyron use 4 of these dealios ? biggrin.gif

I wonder if this is the same patent office that Albert Einstein worked in. He was a Swiss patent official from 1902 until 1909 - during the time this patent was issued.
