Did it come with that rust from the factory? If so, it must be Italian. A Lancia perhaps?

Bernie

Bingo.....1955 Hillman Minx Convertible

Now in my best Paul Harvey voice " Now, the rest of the story".......

Car was outfitted with a Nissan L16 engine and trans (for you you youngins, that's a Datsun 510 engine). Runs like a bat out of hell....looks as bad as Aaron...with the original engine, the car wouldn't get out of it's own way...English ya know.

But, even though Bernie is old, I think he's cheating....he's been here and seen it biggrin.gif

Wouldn't get out of it's own way because it couldn't get traction in the perpetual oil slick! The Cap'n

Saw that car at the swapmeet. Reminded me of my uncle who drove a Hillmnan to South America back in the '50s. I couldn't there and back.

Never had a Hillman, but I did have a 71 Datsun 510. Great car.

I always wanted to put dual Weber DCOE's on it, but I figured I'd get flamed by the club. Oh, wait, but, it already had a carb! laugh.gif

Had a friend who had a Hillman Stationwagon that we would take to go skiing in when I was in HS. Took forever to get there......
