This would be a fun project to install on a 914-4. I have a rather larger unit I'm putting togather.

Cal Poly Pomona used an electronic powered forced induction on their FSAE car in 2000 iirc. I think the major problem with it is the electricity needed to run a high power motor. You're pulling a lot of juice off the engine to keep the high powered motor running. There is no such thing as "free" power. You're pulling more resistance from the alternator to power the motor.
Newton had to be soooo smart with his laws of conservation of energy...
This setup has been tried many times.
And failed misserably by that all that I read about it for many techinical reasons.
Bottom line is that it does work.ok for low boost and very short duration performance.
YET.......
There apparently isn't any good way to keep enough juice on board to make it work well as a daily funtional design.
Search the net for the storys. there are many of em...
