I hate those wheels! smash.gif

Rand, you need a second car!

Posted by: Root_Werks Jan 19 2006, 08:46 AM

Even if it needs hell hole repairing, that is a good deal. Crap, I just bought a project 914 too just 2 days ago. Wonder if the wife will let me have another one? screwy.gif

Posted by: Bleyseng Jan 19 2006, 09:36 AM

I have the black 72 in the garage with the Westy blocking the driveway sooo I'm full up. Damn!

Posted by: Pugbug Jan 19 2006, 09:46 AM

Damn...I should look into it myself....I wonder what red tape is involved to get it into Canada?
I need another project like I need a hole in the head....I would have to get rid of the 79 beetle vert.

Posted by: Bleyseng Jan 19 2006, 10:05 AM

Anybody know if its a 2.0L or a 1.8L?? unsure.gif

Geoff, I've been thinking about it. I doubt it would need any more rust repair than my black car did! Couldn't go wrong at that price for sure.

I emailed the guy hoping to at least take a look at it and report back here. If I see it I'll take photos of the key areas.

If someone here is already planning on buying, let me know and I'll stay out of the way.

1.8

Posted by: Bleyseng Jan 19 2006, 01:23 PM

Shit, I should buy it just for the seats alone! I would trade my black leather seats for the orange plaid!

Posted by: Root_Werks Jan 19 2006, 03:17 PM

Last time something like this happened it was for a $900 74 914 2.0. I begged and pleeded with someone else to buy it. Same thing, hadn't run in years. No one would buy it, so I finally wound up nabbing it for $700. Brought it home, put a fresh battery in it and it ran great. Replaced a few dried out hoses here and there and sold it for $2k to a member on the club on the East coast.

Please don't make be buy another one. I have enough sitting in my garage/driveway already. laugh.gif

I just emailed him to try and set up a time to look at it as it's apparently right in my neighborhood. If it turns out to be a parts car I'd be interested in going in on it with another local member...

Posted by: boxstr Jan 19 2006, 07:00 PM

I emailed the seller yesterday right after he posted and have yet to receive a reply??

Hey Craig, would'ja share the pics??? Just curious popcorn[1].gif

...b

Posted by: Rand Jan 20 2006, 11:35 PM

The pics she emailed me didn't reveal anything more than the http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/126568051.html pics, except more rust on the hood and rocker panels. Did you get anything better Craig?

I may go take a look and get some pics that will really tell us something.

She said this about the car:

QUOTE
"The car has a 1.8 liter engine and is fuel injected. It hasn't been driven in about 8 years, at which point it ran, but had an intermittant stalling problem involving a stuck air flow meter gate. Before that, it was driven daily for about 5 years. I've been told the stalling and stuck gate are commonly caused by intake backfiring due to misadjusted valves. Also, it will need a new battery."

Stuck air flow meter gate? Hmm.

Just kidding Craig. I'm not crying over this one. If I had bought it I would sell the seats to Geoff though. laugh.gif
