Those of you that went to the last RRC got to meet my buddy Waide. In fact, your gut may still hurt from laughing at/with him. He didn't(doesn't) have a 914 but he loves cars in general so he headed up there just for fun.

Well, he just signed up here and he has the green light from home to get a 914. Like most, his biggest concern will be rust. Near as I can tell he is initially looking for a clean car that he can drive as-is until he can make changes down the road. Year and engine aren't issues so long as its a pretty clean starting point. So, if you see a clean car available look him up. He is signed on as WaideS. I'm sure he'll chime in here soon.

I think he is going to put an ad in the classifieds as well, so help a brotha out.

Hey all,
New member here - It is true I did attend the RRC, so I have met a few of you, great people great cars
I think my favorite was the Motorhome because, well that's self-explanatory.

It is not true that I was checking out Eric's wife, there are many, many photos when I am looking straight ahead minding my own damn business, I'm pretty sure I thought it was the waitress behind me with yet another beer.

Seriously, If anyone knows of a decent car out there just waiting for an owner, contact me.
I have little to no "Porsche repair skills", so the better off the car to start the better for me. hehe

Are you asking about smog laws to look for a car in CA for me or because of your recent wreck and the post I saw that said "you were done with 914's".......because if it's the latter, we can't lose you......

If it's for other cars.......I'm new to 70's vehicles, but I know my 2004 needs emissions, hehehe

Thanks Waide. I think that was SLITS that said he was done with 914's. Now that my baby is hurt, I realize just how addicted I am! I am having withdrawls.

It would help us to help you find a 914 if you could tell us what the year is that smog laws start. Nothing like getting a nice 73 and finding out that your state requires 72 and newer to be smoged. And then you will have to put all of that smog crap on their and really kill your performance.

In the amount of time I typed all of that, I could have went to the DMV website and found out myself. Sheesh.

Howey, dont start insurance battles across the mountains.

Everything 1967 and later needs to be smogged.

75 or 76 and later they open your hood and inspect to make sure you haven't tampered with the motor. Things that may get you in trouble on these later cars are switching the FI for carbs. Now that doesn't mean the dumb emissions monkeys know the difference when they lift the hood on your car. Technically if your car had FI, it should still have FI. If your car had a smog pump, it should still have a smog pump. PCV, Cats, Stuff like that.

Basically you should look for a 73 or 74 car. These will give you the best of everything. Side shift, chrome bumpers, and less stringent emissions.

AZ has passed and the Gov has signed a bill to make emissions exempt on cars 25 years or older that carry historic or antique car insurance. However, the bill is pending EPA approval and that will take at least a year maybe 2.

Hey Joe(Sharp), I heard you have several 914s...none of which are on jackstands. You should sell one to Waide just to make a little more room in the garage. I was trying to dump the avatar and lose the stigma that was so quickly attached, but after Shea deemed me the "Stalker" nickname I figured why fight it. Grin and bear it

I'm a little excited that I got a car. I'm thinking I can convince MW to drive out tonight and pick it up, hehehe, well maybe not
