914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Question for Aaron about the Tijuana

Posted by: john rogers Jan 26 2006, 01:26 PM

When you had Los Ponchos do your car did they replace the windshield? If they did was it supplied by you or them and did you use a rubber seal and who supplied that also? I will be taking the race car down in about two weeks after I fit the FG doors and lids and get the windshield replaced since it was sand blasted at the Palm Springs race.

Aaron had a new windshield when he took it down. I just saw mike (dr evil) post in another thread theres a pickapart by the border that has 914 windshields for like 145. You may try sending mike a PM about it.

When mine was done, they removed and reset my windshield and used the new rubber seals so I got rid of the metal trim....they did an excellent job on mine. biggrin.gif

Hey John,
The glass shak in the EL Pulpo/Pick-yur-Part parking lot has new glass for $120 installed. I took my car there right after picking it up in TJ. They are the one on Nirvana st as you exit auto park mall from the 805 (I am pretty sure, PA has erased many CA memories).

Brian, do a search if nothing else turns up. They have had their contact info posted more tahn a few times in the past.

I will say this though, you had better have some time and patience becasue many times they mess things up and need to re do it. Usually it is free other than time and hassel, but I have done a few cars down there and have only had one come off with out a problem. You do get what you pay for and if you ride them and ask for Wilber you will get a good job if not eventally. Also the spanish word for the day is "Propina". It means tip and if you tell who ever that you will tip for good work it tends to motivate them to do a better job the first time.

just my $.02 from 3 years of experience with them. wink.gif
