914World.com _ 914World Garage _ air horn on 914

Posted by: Hammy Jan 30 2006, 08:21 PM

My dad mentioned putting one on my car. I think it'd be pretty cool. A really loud air horn to scare the piss out of the gigantic SUV's. smile.gif Anyone done it?

Posted by: Vacca Rabite Jan 30 2006, 08:37 PM

Mount 2 supertones. One where each of your fog lights would normally go. Just as loud, and a fraction of the weight.

Besides, where would you put the air tank for the horn?

I have one on my Escort GT and people definately notice when you honk. Im thinking of getting one for the 914 too. The only problem I have is the lil compressor gets dirty sometimes and blows the fuse so i have to clean it out every now and then. I got mine at harbor frieght and it came with two horns a compressor a relay and tubing for like 18 bucks.

Toast: I would be happy to set up horns for you. I'm sure I have the hornyest horns you've ever heard on a 914. Got them after the BITCH HIT ME.

WARNING: The following contains no 914 content. {END of WARNING} ohmy.gif

The first vehicle I owned was a '70 (hi Joe) Chevy half ton truck. driving.gif

My uncle Don from SUN CITY(!) gave me an air horn.

It had three trumpets and played the same sound as the lunch wagons on all the jobs we would work on.

I had alot of fun with that thing.

John

P.S. I miss uncle Don, we now resume your regular scheduled programming.... ph34r.gif

Not enough to blow the stock fuse.

good to know!

The twin horns that are stock on the two 914's I had were/are plenty loud!

I saw a Bug with air horns driven via carbon dioxide fire extingusher. Solinoid pulled the handle to release the CO2. Yeah, heads turn...very funny!

Three air horns... run them all at once for a good blast. Or alternate and attract all the turkeys from Miles' back yard!

I have the hella air horns - they are not as lous as I had hoped. This spring I will be replacing them with the 4 horn system from a 1988 Buick - took them out of my wifes grandmothers car before it was donated to charity. Sound like a freight train - scared the crap out of me when I heard it!

Nope, because those are red they would look good only on a Ferrari hood. Thanks for playing biggrin.gif

NOW YOU CAN HAVE THAT WONDERFUL ITALIAN AIR HORN SOUND IN ANY VEHICLE
Years ago we offered those old traditional-style air horns. Problem was, you had to find a place for the compressor, then a place for the horns, then hook up the tubing... Work, work, work, not much fun at all. This modern version is so much easier to install. Everything is built into this compact unit! These are true Italian Air Horns, and as you may know, only the Italians know how to make super-loud, ear-piercing horns! These horns are easy to mount, and come with a relay, and easy installation instructions. Let's see: get taken out by a semi, or let them know you're there? You get to choose. Of course if you're going through town at midnight, blasting your horns, you deserve to get thrown in the poky. Super loud, rated at 139 db at 4 feet, 115db at 6 feet. Compact at 5 1⁄2" tall, 3 3⁄4" wide, and 4 1⁄4" deep. 12 volt, 10 amp with two tones at 530 Hz and 680 Hz. The air pump is steel and the horns are high-impact plastic. Small enough to mount on cars, trucks, boats, or lawn mowers! From our excitable and overly talkative friends in Italy.
