914World.com _ 914World Garage _ spark plug torque setting

Posted by: jsf322 Feb 5 2006, 07:38 AM

I was trying to find a listing for what the proper torque setting is for the spark plugs on a '76 2.0 and cannot find one. I found two of the plugs loose when I went to replace them and I do not want that to happen again. I also don't want to over torque the plugs since it is an alloy head. Does anyone have the proper setting?

18 ft/lbs for a 911 head.....but a t-4s may be made of a diferent grade of beer can. confused24.gif

Nope, don't really know... but I twist them in by hand, then I barely give it a lil jiggle, til they are tight enough to require about 2 times that same amount to get them out again.

Just a sunggy..

as much as you can get when choking up on the ratchet with one hand. When that tendon in your wrist pops out thats tight enough.

Get a 1/2" breaker bar. Tighten until it strips, then back it out a quarter turn.
