I bought a new Momo steering wheel and installed it yesterday. Of course I missed the alignment by a little bit. Now I can't get the wheel and adapter to break free from the column. Any tips?

While I am at it, how exactly do I wire up the horn? The button has two terminals to attach a wire(s) to but I don't know where to attach the other ends of the wire(s). The instructions that came with the wheel were kind of a joke. Any help is appreciated.

Hmmm... never had this problem with a new one and I did the same thing like you, got the wheel a wee bit off. Mine just needed a little wriggling side to side up/ down but if this doesn't work your FLAPS has a cheap wheel puller. Try some slippery spray stuff (can't remember the name - hav'n a brain fart this morning)!

I have had to have some one tap on the shaft while I pulled on the wheel.

I've tried pulling, tapping around it with a rubber mallet(not sure why, just sounded like a smart idea at the time). Still no luck.

A wheel puller? Off to FLAPS when they open I guess.

ok ok... mine has been stuck before.
sit in the seat.... grab the hub... and lean back and pull.

DO NOT LET THE WHEEL HIT YOU IN THE FACE when it flies off.

btw - hope you bought a prototipo

I went that route when I was test fitting everything. I was always able to get the thing off. However, after I tightened everything up good, it wouldn't budge. No sweat, I went and got the wheel puller and it came right off. You guys are farking brilliant!

I got the Momo Competition. Simple & clean look.

Now....about the horn wiring, anyone? Anyone?

Hi Mike,

Did you mount the canceling ring to the back side of the Momo hub? If so, one wire from there to the horn button. Then I attached another (ground) wire to the inside of the hub with the other end to the second horn button contact. Worked fine for me... You'll love the Competition wheel - I've got one too.

Not sure what the cancelling ring looks like. That being said, I obviously didn't since I only mounted the adapter and the wheel.

You don't by chance have any pics do you? I'm a picture sort of guy....insert tab A into slot B.

look at the back of your old wheel. it has a black plastic ring with a large round copper contact, and a TAB that cancels your turn signal.

remove 3 screws holding it to the back of your OLD wheel, and mount it to the back of your NEW adapter.

when you had the hub off. you saw the copper "fingers" for the horn contact inside the column.....

so remove, and reinstall...

Loosen the large nut holding the wheel on. DO NOT REMOVE all the way, This will keep the wheel from flying into your lower jaw. Put your knees against the bottom of the wheel and push back towards you, then pull at the top of the wheel, once you get the feel try and equalize the pressure on the top and bottm. It will come off.

It's a deal. I went out and put the ring in and tried the wire on all contacts and came up empty. It can wait until I to CA to get fixed. I mean, how often am I honking to get people out of MY way??
