Sea Hawks can really take their time with the ball. I thought it was a bad call too. The player had finished he turn and was only scrambling for position.

That should have been Sea touchdown!

Ah Bite me. that wasn't no touch down. But the Seahawks did have a touch down.

I'm going to go play with my car.

Maybe the fact that only Steelers are touching the Lombardi Trophy is because they have four of them to touch.

Posted by: 914fan Feb 5 2006, 07:31 PM

Hey the ball might have crossed the very edge of the goal lone in the air. That was closer to being a touch down than the rollong stones were to hitting a corect note or singing any understandable words

the steelers played like stromberg.gif and still had to get the help of the refs to win. seahawks had to play against two opponents today. finger.gif

Posted by: Matt Meyer Feb 5 2006, 10:40 PM

Ok, I'm a Seahawk fan, and I make it a point never to blame the referees for win/losses. So I won't debate potentially 28 pt of give and take.

But calling a QB for an illegal block on a tackle has got to be the worst call I have ever seen in professional sports. Come on. I have never seen anyone get called for tackling below the waist. And I thought it was an unwritten rule that you give QBs and kickers slack on that kind of thing.

Posted by: rhodyguy Feb 5 2006, 11:05 PM

it wasn't even a block. it was a tackle screwy.gif . on the next pits possesion the other long named q-b did the almost same thing except it was a block, with no call. screwy.gif screwy.gif . poor execution by the hawks at key times and the most lopsided, disproporsional number of holding calls i've seen in any game. big deal tho. i'm so f-in sick of the SUPERBOWL crap on the local news, i'm glad the thing is finished. good night and sweet dreams.

Posted by: reddog Feb 5 2006, 11:30 PM

I'm from Detroit and a Steeler fan, but they lost in my mind, too bad, but there were several calls, ie, the non TD, and where was the holding when the seahawks were on the one to name a few ... but maybe the rust belt needed this. beerchug.gif

agree.gif I heard the same thing. They were selling XL Bowl Steelers shirts before the game started.

PB 1st TB - That was a bad call IMO. Even if you arched the guys hand, shoulder, elbow or football, nothing made it to the White line on the ground or in the air. that was a totaly blocked TD.

SH lost TD - Probably legit due to only one foot being in bounds. I forget the rules.

SH - Holding by 53 was it? Fuck me, there was ass loads of holding all over the place. But wipe ref recalled a 2 yard sitting play. Neat.

Do I think the Hawks should have one? Yeah, but that's just because their my home team. Either team could have won this game. I think a couple of bad calls kept a decent lead for the PS's though. And who in a staduim of 90% PS fans will dispute bad offense calls? bootyshake.gif

Either way, it rocks the Hawks made it there and it was a good game. Hope they have a great season next year as well. beerchug.gif

Posted by: tat2dphreak Feb 6 2006, 01:27 PM

I was much more pissed off at the 'pass interferance' call... what a f'ing JOKE! that should have been a TD!

as for the touchdown... if it had been ruled on the field to not be a touchdown the replay would not have overturned it, think of the replay as a last-ditch appeal, not a new trial...

and for what it's worth, if any part of the ball crosses the plane of the goal line(even part of the wide white line) it's a TD, and the ball did indeed break the plane, and was knocked back... TD!

He and Joe Montana wanted more money to appear. How lame is that?
I know Montana wanted at least his $100k min appearance fee.
I guess TB didn't like ABC doing the game, or maybe he just doesn't give a S about the Steelers anymore?

I'm a fan of neither team but I couldn't believe the bad calls. That being said, even with the bad calls, if the Seahawks had a receiver or TE that could catch a ball to save their lives...and could manage the clock worth a darn, they would have won. They didn't they lost, so be it.

PS: I'm sure Peyton Manning was at home wondering why the Steelers blitz'd him so much and not Hasselback blink.gif

The Seahawks made SO many errors from dropped balls to poor play selection to THE WORST time management of ALL TIME!
But, did you see Ben on Letterman? "No, Dave, I wasn't in. I told Coach: 'I didn't get in on that play'" EVEN the Steeler's qb didn't think it was a touchdown!

That was a championship game? Letting a time out be called while the ball in IN THE FREAKING AIR? This is not whining! I still think the chickens beat themselves, but that was the just wrong what that group of officals did.

As for shutting down Shawn? Didja see the HORSECOLLAR? He was MVP! He IS a superstar! Just plain awful that the pinnical of the NFL was represented like this. SAD

Officals have ruined basketball (Lakers vs Clippers playoff game?); baseball mini strikezone, tiny parks and now finaly football...

Football is a game of momentum. Even if Pit scores on 4 and inches, it is not the same as 3rd. I don't think he gets a second shot at it. Seattle takes over on downs and who knows...

There is simplely no debate on the level of officiating. It was just plain bad! I for one am glad the the coach is saying something about it.

I think they ruined what could have been one of the greatest superbowls of all time. Unproffesionalism diminished the effort and tarnished the win for the Steelers. That is the real shame. Both teams are loosers in that regard.
So just like WWF, That's Entertainment! I personaly would like to see the game deceided by that players, not the refs...

Poor... Sea Chickens !!!

Go home... and... hug-a-tree !!!

Maybe, if the Referee's didn't have to moonlight...
... they could focus, on doing a GOOD job !!!

Remember...not enough video evidence to overturn the call...
...means you loose !!!

They don't have all the camera angles that the networks do !

Finally... the 49ers will be back !!!

They need to reclaim their throne...

Okay, flame-on...
