1) Hellhole rust repair via McMark.
2) Engine bay paint.
3) Engine cleanup and seal freshening.
4) SSI exhaust upgrade.
5) Jackstand performance testing.

Posted by: 9146R Feb 10 2006, 11:37 AM

Marty,

Sure, let's do it. I am praying for sunshine - I'd much rather drive to Santa Clara in the teener. With the cage and cross member behind pass seat the legroom is a bit tight. But I guarantee a fun ride to IHOP !

I'd like to make it to this one (my first) and meet y'all- but need to get my interior back together though.

Posted by: Jenny Feb 10 2006, 11:48 AM

You don't need no stinkin' interior.

All you need... Seat, seatbelt, steering wheel and shifter. You're set!

Jen

Posted by: lapuwali Feb 10 2006, 12:32 PM

You don't even need a 914 to show up. Lots of people show up in something else. I've only been to 2 or 3 of these things WITH my 914.

Geez Brent, when you talk about the "boys" and I''m looking at your avatar and my mind wanders...to "the girls".... wub.gif

Posted by: Maine914 Feb 10 2006, 11:18 PM

Here in Maine, the windchill tonight is well below zero, so my teener is bedded down until May [April, if I'm lucky].
I may be in Los Gatos on the 25th, and would like to try to make it to the breakfast if you don't mind my crashing it. [I don't think I've ever been in a room with more than one other 914 owner.]
Not knowing the area, what's the best way to get there other than the direct route I can see from the maps?
Thanks.

From Las Gatos, the easiest way is probably to take Hwy 17 to Camden Ave. turn left and follow Camden (turns into San Tomas espressway) until you reach Stevens Creek - make a left and IHOP is about 2 miles on the right side.

Posted by: Jenny Feb 12 2006, 04:57 PM

17 to 280 to lawrence Expressway might be quicker, unless you want to stay with surface streets.

Where in los gatos will you be staying at?

Posted by: lapuwali Feb 16 2006, 05:47 PM

Way things are going, I'll be bringing the 912 again. 914 isn't on the schedule until after the FIAT is done, and the FIAT is at least three weekends away from being useful again. The scooter won't go faster than 35mph, so taking it all the way to Santa Clara would be a major trip. The type 3, well, is a type 3.

Looking ahead, I'm very likely to be out of town for both the March and April breakfast days, so someone else will need to volunteer to pick a venue and call the place to warn them they're about to be invaded by a large block of people who'll leave oil puddles in their parking lot...

Need to do it with an overnite in the valley near Gustine?...there used to be great portugese food there....the last time I made this trip was in 1966 in a TR3, so a 914 would be a real step up. I'd take a ride if someone was taking a 914, but totally happy to pick you (lapuwali) up on the way. We could also convoy (bundle up?) from san mateo/foster city.

My welder crapped out last night - so I don't think I'm going to have the 914 running - so would you prefer the Miata (0-60 in 7.9sec) or the turbo wagon (0-60 in 5.4sec)??

Of course - if I do get the 914 running tonight - I'll be bringing that - complete with it's new megasquirt II.

does oakland count? biggrin.gif

don't have a passanger seat in my car tho, if you're asking for a ride ...
if you just want to bundle up, we cound meet somewhere around foster city.

Bundle up...? Andy, does the car have a "bundling board" now?

One of these days....I WILL GO TO A 914club breakfast.

BUT this weekend I might not even have the 914, and if I did I need to finish up soooo much around the house this weekend it would be hard to squeeze the trip into my busy day. Not much time after I sleep in to 11am
smoke.gif

Unitl then I'll be lurking and looking at all the photos, finishing the rustoration, and FINALLY taking some pictures and starting a blog.

Some pics of the breakfast.

As usual it was a lot of fun shooting the sh*t with everyone and seeing all the cool cars in various states of development.

Thanks Jim for the spring tool, I'll bring it back I promise.

I would have, but I had a car to sell, and a new car coming into the shop. sad.gif Lots going on today. But as I rolled into Napa at 1 pm I thought about the fact that if I didn't have other commitments I would have just kept on going north and caught the tail end of the Sacto shin-dig. sad.gif

But on the plus side, Tom (carreraguy) let me drive his VW R32. drooley.gif That's a friggin' awesome car. Super tight in the corners and flat, flat torque curve. Zooooooom! driving.gif

Thanks to Dr. Roger, Andyrew and I will benefit from some early spring cleaning. Andrew was working today, so I will drop off his door prizes next weekend on the way to work on my cars.

Neo914-6, if you need some help on your monster Sunday, let me know. Im still in the area.

Notyers, your V6 has inspired me to stay away from the true monsters...for now. Your car sounded truly beefy, yet still german. Schweet.

Thanks for letting me crash your breakfast. For someone who has not seen more than two 914s in the same place at the same time, this was great.
When I arrived back in Maine it was nine degrees with the wind blowing. Enjoy your weather.
Take care.

Thanks. I was lucky to have one kid who's interested in 914's. The other two can't figure out what's the big deal. To them a car is just a tool of conveyance.

For Mer it's driving-girl.gif
