home from just sealing the deal. the cars in the backyard were well worth the 4 bills. it was the black complete car in the garge that popped my cork!! last time i was there he wasn't interested in even letting al and i look at it. 4 ss trannys and all the shift stuff, 3 2.0 long blocks, ss he's (2.0), bumpers, windshields, interior stuff, muffler systems, nice rivs, (did i mention the 5 4 lug fuch with the black car? ohmy.gif ), boxes of djet stuff, a couple of 32/36 webers dry.gif , a pair of 44 idfs. my head is spinning. the black car in the back yard has pink paint showing thru the black. i'll ckeck on the paint code later. pretty damn exciting. piratenanner.gif w00t.gif . back in the parts business!!!

Now don't tell us you got the two rollers AND the complete car with Fuchs for $400! Could this be the 914 god's way of making up for your stromberg.gif experience?

Posted by: KELTY360 Feb 9 2006, 02:40 PM

Great score! I need a sway bar...among other things.

no. the black (garage)car added to the final tally. but, it was a give away price. i asked if he would throw in the djet stuff with the 2 outside cars. he said " just come back with **** and take everything away.". i didn't even poke the hell hole but the pan is pristene. i'm heading over with the escort wagon to start hauling the loose items home.

Those 32/36 Webers are useful to some of the water-cooled crowd. They bolt on to many FIAT and Lancia manifolds directly, and can be used on 2002s and a few other cars. If you just want to unload them, I might take them off your hands.

Posted by: redshift Feb 9 2006, 02:57 PM

How much do you want for all of it, and a cot in your garage?

Saturday the 18th is the Bremerton 9:14 breakfast.. maybe we could help you lighten the load then.. or we could bring chocolate sedatives for a certain someone.

Posted by: proto31 Feb 9 2006, 07:53 PM

I've got a friend in LA who has a 73 2.0 that's sitting on 3 wheels. He's had the car for years like that, he'd love to have it fixed up. It could definetly use a little Pimpin'. (949)244-9537. Let me know if you find out you need someone to take your place.

Thanks,

Nicely done Kevin,
The drooling around this post is almost unbearable. So the blue light special starts when?
And it's nice to hear there is another member in Oly. I'll have to search him out.
We might have to talk about a side shifter if they are all in one piece.

Waiting in anxious anticipation.

Posted by: boxstr Feb 9 2006, 10:41 PM

Good going Kevin, Who was it that told you about those cars??
CCLINPARTSRUS

Posted by: rhodyguy Feb 9 2006, 11:44 PM

the same guy who passed on them when i told him of their condition and my thoughts factoring in the price at that time (9 months, or longer ago). it was his call if he wanted to drive a total of 600 miles or so to retrieve them. wink.gif biggrin.gif so who do i owe, that guy or the guy who told him? confused24.gif

edit: i just figured out who it was that called and wanted to send his son up with the money to buy the cars, when i was going to the bank. sorry mike.

So the haze is beginning to clear. There are 2 mikes with 914's in the club from Olympia. And we probably would both like some of those parts.

last one for now. i can't start pulling items off the first day my kind neighbor lets me put it in his garage. need a bat to power the rear trunk selenoid, so there may be a surprise in there. next step is pull the rockers and see what's up. i don't know what to do with the car. did the butt test. no noticable change, but need someone with more heft to be sure. i don't know what i'm going to do with this car yet.

yes, 5 and one in the neighbor's garage. rolleyes.gif the 2 in the driveway will be short term visitors. the manta has exhaust flange spacing for 1.7/1.8 he. sorry. removed the front control arms(tabbed for s.b.), cross member off the white car today, and some stuff for craig. i love my compressor, impact driver, and air chisel. thank god for aerokroil. i'm flush will self canceling turn signal switches than actually self cancel.

Kev -

16900 VIN
L041 paint code

Long shot, but is there any targa bar vinyl? Yellow paint on the valences? I can't tell by the photos....

wink.gif Nice score...

Posted by: rhodyguy Feb 17 2006, 08:40 AM

i see where there could be some confusion jeff. i purchased 2 black cars. one was the black over raspberry, "the pink". there is a solo thread on that car.

the other black car, it's a 74' (in the neighbor's garage), is the factory black, L041 paint code car. yes, it has yinyl on the targa bar. wrong wheels i think, has fuch presently on it. i will get you exact vin # next time i get in the garage. it has painted bumpers (black) as are the rocker covers. no sway bars, were they a standard opt on the bbs?. i will remove a bit of paint off one of the bumpers and a rocker and hope for yellow. if i find yellow, where is the value going to go? ohmy.gif i'm 95% sure there has not been a repaint on the chassis. i'll pm you directly with the results.

k

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby Feb 17 2006, 10:44 AM

All LEs have sway bars Kevin. Wheels and bumper paint color and such are bolt ons and can easily be changed, even Targa vinyl. Value depends mostly on condition.
